One of the key mechanics of Anthem is the possibility of flying. The characters, embedded in their javelin, a kind of exoskeleton, acquire a series of exceptional abilities. Interviewed by Jeux Video (through GamingBolt), director Jonathan Warner, producers Ben Irving and Mike Gamble, as well as executive producer, Mike Darrah, have spoken extensively about the challenges of flying the characters.

Although on paper it can be easy, BioWare has faced a lot of problems, to the point that it was even suggested to disable this function during the fight. According to Gamble, the difficulty was in getting the character to move like a superhero without breaking the game: "We discovered the answer after the first month of work on the concept of Anthem," he explains.

According to his words, they decided that the flight would be a main mechanic, because it is the epicenter of the fantasy of the superheroes. However, there were some fears and problems to solve. First, the team feared that players would not find the spoils of the heavens. Since Anthem is very important to gather equipment and objects, it is not strange that this fear came to light. Of course, it is already confirmed that there will not be any kind of loot boxes.

"The ability to fly is extremely dangerous in a videogame because players can use it to break the game, go beyond the limits defined by the level designers or use it to avoid some areas, so they lose the possibility of loot", emphasizes Warner. Therefore, all designers had to work together to ensure that the system was molded, so that it did not spoil the game experience

Some adjustments to let the characters fly.

For its part, as already noted, Irving acknowledges that the study came to think of blocking the flight mechanics during the fight, but "it was too boring because flying is great." In the end, what they did was to limit the flight time for the game to work. In addition, the behavior of the enemies was modified, with the aim that they could attack with a greater rank of distance, so that they had the opportunity to demolish the player and force him to use a more tactical thought.

"Instead of considering space as a smooth surface," says Warner, BioWare has chosen to profile the world as a place where it can move freely through the terrain. The player is constantly "making small decisions". Where do I fly? How do I get there?

Anthem, in development for PS4, Xbox One and PC, will go on sale on February 22. Players who have reserved the game or who are members of EA Acces or Origin Access will be able to play the demonstration in advance, starting on January 25th. The rest of users must wait one more week to put themselves at the controls of Anthem. Remember that the progression will not be recorded for the final game.

Anthem shows his world and free exploration mode

After the tests, the study found that the game became tasteless, so they decided to make other adjustments to make it work

The universe of Anthem is placed at our disposal in a new gameplay in which we learn the importance of exploring and discovering the world of the game.
The companions of IGN have published an exclusive preview of Anthem in which we can enjoy a new gameplay of the game, up to eight minutes long. Throughout it we are presented with the Free Exploration mode, which allows us to launch in different expeditions due to the enormous mapping of the game and to do so without a specific objective in mind. This will help us find dynamic events within your world, discover new objects, learn about your lore and discover more final heads (among many other things).

The video, like all the previous ones, serves as an example for the visual spectacle that we can expect from Anthem, which has been the videogame of Nvidia to show the maximum party to which we can aspire with its new line of cards and monitors. It will be a demanding game in compatibility, according to your requirements for PC.

Anthem, the next great BioWare saga

In case anyone did not know it yet, Anthem is the latest creation of BioWare, the creators of sagas like Mass Effect, Dragon's Age or Baldur's Gate. It is a videogame of role and action, in the line of Destiny, which will have a cooperative mode for up to 4 players and will be set in a post-apocalyptic world, full of beasts and wild creatures willing to hunt us while we search for hidden technology.

The game will reach PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One next February 22, and although it will not have season pass, the studio has not wanted to get wet and specify the duration of the campaign despite the insistence of the fans.

It can be tested from January 25, when it has a demonstration that will allow us to play from level 10 and discover the virtues of the title. A demonstration of which the study has already talked long and hard, and will serve as the best of the advances.
