How to Control a Star Destroyer in Fortnite

A formidable Star Destroyer has made its dramatic entrance into Fortnite, offering players the unprecedented opportunity to command this iconic vessel of the Galactic Empire and unleash devastation upon their foes from above. While the Star Destroyer wields immense power, only one player (or their squad) in the lobby will earn the right to control it, aiming to pave their way to a Victory Royale in the style of a true Sith Lord.For players eager to seize control of a Star Destroyer in Fortnite, the following steps outline the required process to wield this unlimited power and secure a triumphant victory.

How to Easily Get the Star Destroyer in Fortnite

Access to the Star Destroyer is gained via a portal that spawns randomly on the Battle Royale map, always within the current storm circle. The Star Destroyer typically appears during Storm 2 of 12, approximately 1 minute and 25 seconds into this storm phase, which translates to roughly 5 minutes after players drop from the Battle Bus. The Star Destroyer's arrival is impossible to miss: a loud siren will blare, and a prominent text notification reading "Star Destroyer Portal is Open!" will appear at the bottom of your screen.Players can locate the Star Destroyer portal by looking for a distinctive Star Destroyer icon on their minimap, or by following the same icon displayed on the HUD at the top of the screen. The most effective strategy to reach the Star Destroyer before other players is to utilize an X-Wing or a TIE Fighter. Fly within the storm circle and simply wait for the Star Destroyer to spawn. Once it does, avoid other players and fly directly into the portal. Upon entering, the Star Destroyer becomes yours exclusively, unless you are playing with teammates who will also gain access.

How Does the Star Destroyer in Fortnite Work?

Once you (and any teammates) have entered the Star Destroyer portal, your view will shift to a bird's-eye perspective of the Battle Royale map. From this vantage point, you have 1 minute and 20 seconds inside the Star Destroyer, during which you are invulnerable and cannot be eliminated.

While commanding the Star Destroyer, you can use the left stick to maneuver your aiming cursor and press R2 (or its equivalent on other platforms) to fire the blaster cannon. This powerful cannon deals 73 splash damage and a significant 120 damage on a direct hit. You can fire the blaster cannon continuously every second. Enemies on the map are clearly highlighted by red triangles, making them easy to target. Players can also zoom in and out to get a better view of the map. However, it's important to note that players cannot steer the Star Destroyer itself; you only control the turbolaser cannon. The ship follows a predetermined, set path across the map.

If you are playing in Squads, all four players will have their own individual cannon on the StarDestroyer. However, the total damage output is reduced by 0.4x. Afterthe 1 minute and 20 second duration expires (or if players choose toexit prematurely by holding Circle/B), the Star Destroyer will disappear through a rift, allowing players to glide safely back down to theisland, having inflicted as much damage as possible.
