Ttokrrone Scales are a rare currency that can be obtained from a specific activity. For those who have reached the endgame in Dawntrail, doing everything they can to find them will be one of their top priorities. Although Ttokrrone Scales don't give you useful gear, they do unlock an adorable mount that you can add to your growing FFXIV collection.

How to get Ttokrrone Scales in FFXIV?

You can obtain Ttokrrone Scales by completing the FATE “The Serpent Lord Stirs,” which you can find while visiting the northern area of Shaaloani. The fight starts at the coordinates (X:22.5, Y:5.2). This encounter pits you and other FFXIV players against Ttokrrone, and you must defeat him to earn the scales. As expected, the cooperation of multiple players is required to beat this boss, so you won’t want to attempt it alone.

You must complete four FATEs for the ending to appear:

The Serpent Lord Stirs
The Serpent Lord Speaks
The Serpent Lord Bulls
The Serpent Lord Suffers

The amount of Ttokrrone Scales you earn depends on how much you participate in the activity. However, you won’t be able to reach this area by simply unlocking the Shaaloani region. You must unlock all of the Shaaloani Aether Streams and make sure your mount can fly. The only way to get there is by flying your mount to this area and facing the Ttokrrone. However, the FATE may not be available. It only appears at specific times, but you can check this information on Faloop's website, which covers all world bosses in FFXIV.

What to do with Ttokrrone Scales?

Once you have enough Ttokrrone Scales to complete this encounter, the next step is to take them to the correct vendor. You can exchange these scales by speaking to Uah'shepya, the Miscellaneous vendor in Solution Nine, at the coordinates (X:8.7, Y:13.5). She can offer you the mount Mehwaypyarra, the Capybara mount.

Tips

You can only earn two to six Ttokrrone Scales for defeating the Ttokrrone, meaning you can expect to fight it multiple times. The number of scales you receive is entirely based on your participation.
Check the World Boss timer to see if you can do it in your world or if you need to travel to another one.
