These allies significantly ease the challenges of combat across the map and the process of gathering resources, becoming essential partners in the RPG experience.

Fantasy Life i: How to Increase Affinity

As players journey through time in Fantasy Life i, gathering resources, battling monsters, and developing their island, they'll naturally encounter and recruit Buddies. Buddies are acquired as players find and convert Strangelings, who then travel with them and call the Base Camp home. Many Buddies are met during story missions, but others can be discovered through exploration or by defeating powerful bosses.While Buddies level up alongside the player, they also possess an Affinity level. Affinity is a companion system that measures the closeness of your bond with each individual Buddy. As Affinity increases, the Buddy unlocks special abilities, making them more effective allies. Affinity progression is tracked under the Characters Menu, represented by empty hearts that fill as the bond deepens; Affinity is maxed out once all hearts are full.There are several effective ways for players to increase Buddy Affinity:

Talk to Buddies at Base Camp: Your Base Camp serves as your home base, and your recruited Buddies will wander around the island. Talking to each Buddy once a day provides a gradual but consistent increase in their Affinity. Make it a daily habit!

Give Buddies Gifts: While the option to give a gift doesn't always appear, it's a potent method when available. Buddies have gift preferences based on their Life (Class). If players provide them with an item they particularly like, they will receive a greater boost to Affinity. Experiment with different items!

Complete Buddy Requests: Buddies will often have specific requests for the player, which may involve crafting an item, delivering a particular resource, or building something for them. Completing these Buddy Requests grants the most Affinity in Fantasy Life i, making them a highly efficient way to strengthen bonds.

Add Buddies to your Party: Buddies who actively travel with players as Party Members receive a slight, continuous boost to Affinity over time. However, this method is the slowest for raising Affinity. It's worth noting that Affinity for a Buddy does not typically max out until your character reaches level 50 or higher, emphasizing the long-term nature of party-based Affinity gains. You can adjust your Party Formation by speaking to Boyle inside the Guild at your Base Camp.
