Where To Find Mirelurk Hunters in Fallout 76

There are plenty of enemies that players will inevitably stumble across while exploring post-war Appalachia. While some enemies, like Mole Rats and Radroaches, aren't all that deadly, there are plenty of enemies that pack a serious punch. Scorchbeasts, Super Mutant Behemoths, Deathclaws, and other big creatures are lurking, waiting to catch the player off-guard.
One creature that can be surprisingly powerful is the Mirelurk Hunter. These creatures are often found alongside Mirelurks and Mirelurk Queens. They are quite tanky creatures, but they provided you have a decent weapon, they shouldn't be all that difficult to take down. Players will occasionally be tasked with taking down a few of these creatures in order to complete certain daily challenges. This guide will go over the best locations to find Mirelurk Hunters in Fallout 76.

Where To Find Mirelurk Hunters

There are a few places that have a few guaranteed spawn points. However, if another player gets there first, then the enemies may already have been taken care of. Should this be the case, hopping to another server is the best way of finding these creatures. A few of the most notable locations can be seen below.

Grafton Lake

Grafton Lake has a couple of Mirelurk spawn points. There's always a chance that a Mirelurk Hunter could spawn alongside them. The lake itself takes up a large part of the Toxic Valley. Because of how few trees there are, it's pretty easy to spot Mirelurk Hunters from far away. Keep in mind that this is also a spawn point for a Mirelurk Queen.

Lake Reynolds

Just outside of Lewisburg, in the Ash Heap region, there's a lake. Next to the lake, there's a rundown playground. More often than not, you'll find a Mirelurk Hunter roaming around next to a couple of regular Mirelurks.

Wendigo Cave

Located in the Savage Divide, Wendigo Cave is a huge cave that can be rather tricky to navigate. It's filled with Ghouls, Wendigos, and of course, Mirelurk Hunters.

Pioneer Scout Lake

This location is where the event Swarm Of Suitors takes place. Even outside of the event, there tend to be a couple of Mirelurk creatures lurking around the lake area.

Highland Marsh

Located in The Mire Region, Highland Marsh is usually home to a Mirelurk Queen. There are also plenty of Mirelurk Eggs dotted around the area. Since there is also a challenge that requires players to collect these eggs, Highland Marsh is a pretty good place to visit for all Mirelurk-related objectives.

Mac's Farm

The locations mentioned above aren't the only locations for these creatures, but they are some of the best ones to visit when hunting for them. You may also encounter one or two randomly while exploring Appalachia.

Sunrise Field

Towards the southern side of the Cranberry Bog, Sunrise Field has avery good chance of spawning one Mirelurk Hunter. This location usuallyhas a Mirelurk Queen roaming around. However, with a little bit ofsneaking, it's possible to stealthily take down the Mirelurk Hunterwithout alerting the Mirelurk Queen to your location.

Quarry X3

Quarry X3 can be a little hit-and-miss when it comes to spawningMirelurk Hunters. That said, during challenges that require players toeither kill or photograph Mirelurk Hunters, visiting some of the lesspopular locations can be a good idea since it can be hard to find themwhen other players are trying to take them down.

Events That Spawn Mirelurk Hunters

If you are still having a hard time finding Mirelurk Hunters, thenthere are a few events that have almost a 100% chance of spawning atleast a couple of Mirelurk Hunters. These events include the following.

Swarm Of Suitors

This event is guaranteed to spawn at least a couple of MirelurkHunters. It can be a tricky event to complete for low-level players. However, more often than not, there will be a few other players takingpart in the event, making it a little easier to manage. To make thisevent easier, hop on top of one of the nearby shacks to avoid takingmelee damage.

Primal Cuts

This event is only available during Meat Week. Depending on the region, this event will spawn all sorts of toughenemies, such as Yao Guai, Radscorpions, and Mirelurk Hunters. It'spossible to jump on top of the drums. If you do this, then no enemy canreach you, meaning that you are only vulnerable to ranged attacks.

Census Violence

Census Violence isnot a public event, so it will cost Caps to fast travel. That said, there's a very good chance of encountering a Mirelurk Hunter whilecompleting the event.

Heart Of The Swamp

This is one of the more popular Public Events. Mainly due to the smallchance of being awarded a piece of rare apparel upon its completion. There are several waves of Strangler enemies thatplayers will need to take down. This includes a couple of waves ofMirelurks, and possibly even a Mirelurk Hunter or two.

Workshop Defense Events

While they are not as lucrative as they used to be, taking over workshops can help new players generate a small stockpile of junk items. There's also a chance that a claimed workshop will get attacked by a group ofenemies. The enemy group can be anything from Super Mutants toMirelurks. Ifit's a Mirelurk attack, then there's a good chance that a couple ofMirelurk Hunters will spawn during the event.

Scorched Earth

This is one of the Nuked Events, meaning that it can only be activated by launching a nuke over a specific area. For thisevent to start, you'll need to launch a nuke over Fissure Site Prime. This event is aimed at high-level players.

Lots of enemiesspawn during the event. This includes Mirelurks and Mirelurk Hunters. The one downside of this event is that it's very popular. Due to itspopularity, it can be hard to get a shot in on a Mirelurk Hunter asthere are lots of players firing weapons at the same time.

The Best Way To Take Down Mirelurk Hunters

Mirelurk Hunters are pretty tough. That said, they have one main weakness: thehead. A few well-placed VATS shots to the head should be enough to takedown a Mirelurk Hunter. Because Mirelurk Hunters rarely spawn alone, itcan be tricky takingthem down while they are surrounded by Mirelurks, Mirelurk Kings, andMirelurk Queens.

Explosive weapons and fast-firing heavy gunsare great at thinning the herd, making it easier to take down allMirelurk creatures while also being able to keep a safe distance awayfrom all melee attacks.
