On the Mountain, fishing becomes incredibly difficult due to fish circling rocks and seaweed that, if caught, slows down your rod. In order to find the necessary ingredients for your recipes Ice Eel, Granite Grouper, Frostfang, and Squid—you should maximize your rod upgrading. You may find the other ingredients, such as crabs, seabeans, and oysters, along the rivers and ponds that make up this biome. To find and capture the four primary ones, follow these steps:
- Ice Eel: This slippery creature can be found in the serene ponds on the western side of the mountain. Lure it in with a juicy earthworm. Once caught, enjoy its tender flesh in a hearty Ice Eel Soup or a classic Oyster Stew. It also adds a unique flavor to the Mountain Fish Platter.
- Granite Grouper: This rugged fish resides in the cool waters beneath the waterfall, near the Mushroom Man's shop. An earthworm is the key to tempting it out of its rocky hideout. Savor its firm flesh in a delectable Granite Grouper Sushi, a comforting Oyster Stew, or a satisfying Crab Salad. It's also a prime ingredient for the Mountain Fish Platter.
- Frostfang: This icy fish can be found in a pond nestled amidst rolling snowballs halfway up the mountain. A simple earthworm will suffice to entice it. Grill its flaky flesh to perfection or incorporate it into a refreshing Crab Salad. It also adds a touch of wintery flavor to the Mountain Fish Platter.
- Squid: These elusive creatures can be found lurking beneath the surface of the water, often hiding in bubbles. Cast your line into the bubbles and patiently wait for a bite. Once caught, grill its tender tentacles or add them to a classic Oyster Stew or a refreshing Crab Salad.
Where to Find Fish in the Jungle
Being a master fisherman requires you to capture fish in the Jungle, the last site on Luma Island—and the fish in this area are the most challenging to catch. Similar to the Mountain, you'll need to avoid underwater obstacles like seaweed and boulders, but this time there are tiny whirlpools that could trap your bobber and keep it spinning indefinitely unless you release it.
In this biome, as in the others, you may expect to see the following fish species: bladefin, rage marlin, tornadofish, and octopus. To round out a couple of the recipes, you can also locate abalone, lobsters, and caviar on the beaches and sandbanks along the ponds. Throughout the Jungle, you can locate the following four fish:
