Cranky Kong, the grumpy but beloved elder of the Kong family, makes several entertaining appearances throughout Donkey Kong Bananza. Known for his classic sarcastic remarks and his belief that he should be the hero, Cranky often finds himself in slightly out-of-reach locations, offering amusing dialogue and valuable Banandium Gems to those who find him.One of his early appearances is in the Hilltop Layer (SL200), the second major area DK and Pauline explore.

Donkey Kong Bananza: Reach Cranky Kong in Hilltop Layer

While the Hilltop Layer isn't as sprawling as some other areas, finding Cranky requires a specific action rather than just exploration.

• Cranky's Location: Cranky Kong can be spotted floating on a platform high above the ground, typically above a lone Banandium Gem. His platform is often clearly visible on your minimap. To help pinpoint his exact whereabouts, look for Rambi, the rhinoceros animal buddy, as Cranky's location is usually near Rambi's first appearance or a related area in the Hilltop Layer. Specifically, he's found above a single stone banana formation, slightly to the right of the massive central stone banana bunch formation (near the Warp Gong).
• The Trick to Reaching Him: To get Cranky Kong down from his elevated perch, you don't need any special power-ups or complicated maneuvers, just good aim:
• Grab a Chunk of Dirt/Terrain: Use the RT button (or equivalent on your controller) to pick up a piece of the ground terrain.
• Aim and Throw: Press the RT button again to enter aiming mode. Carefully aim the chunk of dirt at the platform where Cranky Kong is standing.
• Knock Him Down: Upon impact, Cranky's platform will fall, bringing him down to ground level. He will then remain in place, waiting for you to interact with him.

How to Get Banandium Gem #32 (Cranky’s Hilltop Rant) in Donkey Kong Bananza

The 32nd Banandium Gem in the Hilltop Layer (SL200) is directly tied to your interaction with Cranky Kong.

• After Knocking Him Down: Once you've successfully knocked Cranky Kong off his floating platform, simply drop down to his location and interact with him.
• The Rant and Reward: As is his nature, Cranky will immediately launch into one of hissignature rants. In the Hilltop Layer, a common rant involves himcomplaining about how he should be the one riding Rambi to savebananas, not DK. His dialogue is typically filled with amusing sarcasmand is well worth reading for the laughs.
• Receiving the Gem: After he finishes his entertaining complaints, Cranky Kong will reward you with the "Cranky’s Hilltop Rant" Banandium Gem (Gem #32) for that area.
