Today we bring you an explanatory guide on How to unlock Runewords in Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred with precise details.
Another neat addition to Diablo 4 that came with the Vessel of Hatred expansion is the Runeword system. By combining Runes and socketing them into your equipment, you can gain access to a wide variety of strong abilities, including those of other classes, the ability to call animal spirits, increased movement speed, decreased cooldowns, and many more. They allow for even more complex build customization, particularly with the new Spiritborn class, and are essentially enhanced Gems.
Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred: How to unlock Runewords
Find Runewords in Chapter 2 of the Vessel of Hatred campaign, where you'll find the Fundament of Faith quest to be completed. Ormus will reward you with a Kurast Armory Cache containing multiple beginning Runes when you return to the Kurast council. You will also be able to use a pop-up window to learn the ropes.
The Runeword Method
A Runeword can only be activated by placing a Rune of Ritual and a Rune of Invocation on the same item of armor. Together, the Rune of Ritual and the Rune of Invocation form a powerful combination. What follows is an explanation of the relationship between the two Rune kinds:
Rune Types
- Ritual Rune (Yellow): Generates offerings when you perform specific actions (e.g., evading, healing, casting ultimates). The offerings can be used to trigger powerful effects.
- Invocation Rune (Purple): Consumes offerings to activate special abilities. These abilities can range from summoning spirits to restoring health or enhancing critical strikes.
Locate the Socketable tab in your inventory. You can view all of your current Runes here. Drag and drop Runes onto various pieces of gear, such as armor, boots, weapons, and more, by hovering over them. To activate the Runeword, repeat the process for the second Rune. As you go on quests and explore, the chain reaction will begin automatically once all the pieces are in place.
At the Jeweler, you can create a new Rune by combining three duplicates. As reported by VideoGamer
Take note that Runewords can only be used on two-slot pieces of gear, and that you can only have two pairs of Runewords activated at once, meaning that you can only have two pieces of gear that have Runewords. If you find three identical Runes, you can combine them with the Jeweler to create a new one, which could be rarer. 85% of the time, it will be of same rarity, and 15% of the time, it will be of a higher grade Rune.
Some advice
Go to a Jeweler, click on the Unsocket tab, then on the pliers symbol on the left. After that, click on the gear next to the Runeword you wish to deactivate. This will unsocket the combination. Your inventory's Socketables section will restock the Runes.
Secrets to Acquiring Runes
Exiting the Kurast Undercity timed-dungeon will reward you with runes, but you can also acquire them as drops from tale bosses, elite opponents, Whisper Caches, and World Bosses and Strongholds. You may maximize your odds of earning Runes when you defeat the dungeon boss in Kurast Undercity with Rune Tributes, making it the most efficient farming method.
