How to get Motes of Light in Destiny 2
Method 1: Visions of the Traveler Collectibles (8 Motes)
- Locate and collect the eight scattered Visions of the Traveler throughout The Pale Heart.
- Each collected Vision automatically deposits a corresponding Mote of Light into your inventory.
- For assistance in locating these collectibles, consult the podiums situated within The Lost City. These podiums offer hints regarding the Visions' specific locations within The Pale Heart.
- Successfully collecting all eight Visions unlocks access to the golden chest containing the Khvostov weapon.
Method 2: Overthrow Activity (9 Motes)
- Participate in the Overthrow endgame activity within The Pale Heart zone.
- Defeating a unique boss within an Overthrow instance grants a Mote of Light. Ideally, you should encounter three unique bosses per area, totaling nine Motes across all areas.
- Crucially: Matchmaking for Overthrow is restricted to a single area per day. To expedite the acquisition process, consider teaming up with fellow players.
- Due to the randomized nature of boss spawns, it's recommended to complete Overthrows in different areas to avoid encountering previously defeated bosses.
- Important Note: The in-game Triumph system that tracks defeated Overthrow bosses might be unreliable. You may need to rely on your memory to determine which bosses you've already encountered.
Additional Considerations:
- The final Mote of Light, known as the Mote of Primordial Light, is awarded upon defeating all unique Overthrow bosses.
- A potential bug exists where the Taken Chimera Servitor's Mote of Light may be launched a considerable distance upon its defeat. If you cannot locate the Mote, thoroughly search the area for a pink triangle indicator. Alternatively, consider leaving the zone and re-engaging the Chimera.
