How to Remove the Vex Shields in the Fallow Mission in Destiny 2 The Edge of Fate

In the "Fallow" mission of Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate, you'll encounter a Vex boss that utilizes powerful, impenetrable shields. Direct gunfire won't work; instead, you'll need to leverage your newfound Matterspark ability to bypass barriers and destroy the hidden shield generators. This guide will pinpoint their locations and walk you through the process.

Destiny 2 The Edge of Fate: Remove the Vex Shields

To bypass the Vex boss's shields, you must utilize your Matterspark ability. This allows you to transform into a ball of electricity, enabling you to squeeze through tight spaces like vents and grates that are normally inaccessible.

First Shield Generator Location

When the boss first deploys its shield:
  • Orient Yourself: Face the direction from which you originally entered the arena.
  • Look to Your Right: To your right-hand side, you'll spot a hole in the ground. This hole will be distinct, often indicated by strange green and yellow growths around its opening.
  • Enter with Matterspark: Use your Matterspark ability to zip through this hole. You will travel under a Vex barrier.
  • Destroy the Generator: On the other side, you will pop out directly near the first shield generator. Shoot it to bring down the boss's shield and resume your attack.

    • Second Shield Generator Location

    Once the boss's health drops to its final segment, it will re-establish its shields:

  • Change Direction: This time, instead of heading right, turn left from your current position.
  • Follow the Path: Follow the path along the far side of the arena. You'll navigate around the perimeter.
  • Locate and Destroy: There will be another shield generator tucked away on this far side. Use your Matterspark ability once again to break through any barricades or small openings leading to it.
  • Final Shield Down: Destroy this second generator. This will cause the boss's shield to fall permanently.

    • With both shield generators destroyed, the boss is completely vulnerable.Unload all your remaining firepower, including Supers and heavy weapons, to finish it off. Once the boss is defeated, the mission will becomplete, allowing you to move forward in The Edge of Fate campaign.
