How to Solve the Matterspark Puzzle in Destiny 2 The Edge of Fate

In Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate, the "Matterspark" mechanic is a new ability that lets you transform into an electrified ball, allowing you to traverse tight spaces and power certain mechanisms. You'll encounter a crucial Matterspark puzzle and a boss fight against the Exile Overseer in a specific part of the campaign.Here's a step-by-step guide to help you through this section:

Destiny 2 The Edge of Fate: the Matterspark Puzzle

  • Rendezvous with Ikora: Push through the area, fighting off groups of Fallen, including the new flying Corsair enemies. Once the area is clear, talk to Ikora.
  • Investigate the Area: Ikora will direct you to investigate the surroundings. Follow the waypoint on your HUD to the next location.
  • Scan the Terminal: Upon reaching the designated spot, scan the terminal attached to the wall. You'll experience a brief interruption from VII.
  • Acquire Matterspark: Head inside the building and interact with the dark matter. This will grant you your first new ability: Matterspark. You'll transform into a small, electrified ball.
  • Navigate as Matterspark:
    • As the Matterspark ball, head down the stairs.
    • Slip through the vent on your right.
    • Follow the tubing. If your Matterspark energy starts to run low, look for panels along the way that you can use to recharge it.
  • Power the Door: At the end of the tubing, you'll reach a panel. Use your Matterspark ability to power it up and open the door.
  • Place Rally Banner: Immediately after the door opens, you'll see a Rally Banner spot. Place your banner here to replenish your Super and abilities, as a boss fight is imminent.

    • How to Beat the Exile Overseer

    The boss in this section is the Exile Overseer, a large Fallen Servitor. This fight has two main phases:

    Phase 1: Initial Engagement

    • The Exile Overseer has two health bars. Begin by dealing damage to it with your weapons and abilities.
    • Watch out for standard Fallen enemies and Shanks that will also be present in the arena.

    Phase 2: Matterspark Pylon Activation

    • Once you've depleted half of the Exile Overseer's health, it will become immune to damage.
    • At this point, you'll need to charge two pylons using your Matterspark ability to make the Overseer vulnerable again.
    • First Pylon: Locate a pipe near the cliff edge. Transform into Matterspark, enter this pipe, and follow it to reach and charge the first pylon.
    • Second Pylon: The second pylon is deeper inside the cave. Look for a pipe on the lower part of the rocks to access it. Again, transform into Matterspark, go through the pipe, and charge the pylon.

    Phase 3: Final Damage Phase

    • Once both pylons are charged, the Exile Overseer will become vulnerable again.
    • This is your cue to unleash all your damage. Hit it hard with your weapons, and use your Super ability for maximum impact.
    • Watch out for Fallen Brigs: As the Overseer's health gets lower, Fallen Brigs (large, heavily armored Fallen vehicles) will start spawning.Prioritize taking these out quickly, as they can deal significant damage and overwhelm you.
    • Continue to focus fire on the Exile Overseer until its health is completely depleted.

    After defeating the Exile Overseer, collect your well-deserved loot andproceed onward to the next part of your journey in Destiny 2: The Edgeof Fate.
