Then the first step to get Lockne's mind on Death Stranding will be to get to Mountain Knot City. Once there, you must talk to Lockne for the first time, turn right and return to South Knot City. Then head north through the mountain, as nothing in the mountainous area south of Knot City will be connected to the Red Chiral.
Then when you finally get to Mom's lab, she will ask you to take her to Mountain Knot City for the purpose of talking to Lockne face to face. Mom will climb into a body bag, where you must carry her back to Mountain Knot City. So go back the way you came to get out of the lab and defeat a boss.
