The dangerous journey of Clawford and Purrscilla leads and directs them to a sorrowful village whose people are being attacked and afflicted brutally by the looters. This situation forces them to the line of fighting and from their bloody hands, the two come out triumphant. As they seek an element strategic in tipping the scale of the ignominious fighting, they climb a highly elevated building that oversees a confused battlefield. Here, they spot the leader of the looters, a toughly built fellow surrounded by vigilant bouncers.
Determined to set things right, Clawford and Purrscilla lie low, licking their wounds and waiting until their spirits are sounder. Then, with newfound strength, they hatch a ballsy plot to infiltrate the enemy camp's heart and face down their sinister adversary.
With their disguises in place, they slink through the raider lines, their hearts pounding. Their ruse holds only until the captain's sharp eyes fall upon them. An evil growl escapes him, as he tears off his mask, revealing the terrible face of Snoutford, brother to Clawford, to whom his face is a testament—a living horror story.
Snoutford's words are an accusation of betrayal, and they strike the air with a highly venomous strength that paralyzes Clawford in shock and disbelief. The revelation is a stake to the heart, a wound deeper than any physical injury. Yet, as Snoutford threatens Purrscilla, a surge of primal instinct awakens within Clawford.
Love, that power much stronger than fear, sets about with a protective zeal. And with a loud growl heard even in the war-torn field of action, Clawford attacks Snoutford, brothers to the core no more, in this clang and anger of steel. This led to a tussle in which Clawford emerged victorious through valor and the strength of his strong being.
As a testimony for the triumphant end he has won, Clawford stakes claim to the treasure of the second chapter: a well-worn vest armor that ensures greater protection and a purse full of gold which stands as a testament of his labored victory.
Book 3
Clawford and Purrscilla were plunged from peaceful slumber into a nightmare as the acrid scent of smoke invaded their senses. Their home was ablaze. With split-second urgency, Clawford cradled Purrscilla in his arms and dashed into the night, their lives hanging in the balance. Much like their very property, which the fire had eaten up, leaving nothing but a ghostly outline, so was a powerful feeling of loss that gripped them. "Oh darling, I'm so thankful we're safe. Thank you," she trembled in voice, fear and relief intertwining.
A dark, chilling figure appeared from within the surrounding shadows, and Snoutford, nostrils flaring, eyes aflame with a mixture of rage and despair, met the amount tone. "You thought to escape me, huh? Just like all those years ago, when you left our family to die in a fire. But fate had another design, and I lived because of the raiders." Clawford's heart twisted with guilt as he revealed, "I have carried that night with me through all the years, filled with never-ending remorse."
Snoutford was in agony and it showed clearly. "I'm tormented by your unconcern. You never came to find me, never wondered. And now you've killed my second family. I have nothing to hold on to anymore!" The knife was trembling in his hand, his eyes streaming wild tears of desperation. Purrscilla shivered. "No, please!" she said in a horrified voice. "We were family to you too!"
The grim look on Snoutford's face softened for just a second in genuine realization. Clawford did truly feel remorse, which the two brothers, lost to each other and to the world, shared in this tragedy of far-too-late-for-reconciliations. Clawford turned to Purrscilla and began to apologize for his silence. Unfailingly and unhesitatingly, she spoke, "My foolish rat, my love for you does not consider your past. All that concerns me at the moment is that you admit your follies—make amends."
Their hearts grew warmer again as they found a contrivance hidden within the ruins, containing clawford's prized hat along with a small total of gold. They reached out for their new treasures, and hope replaced sounds of dismay. Their adventure was hardly at an end. An enigmatic door, behind which unknown tests lay in wait, had opened wide to take them through to the deepest stage of this hazardous adventure.
