To play
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 on PC, you must have
Secure Boot and
TPM 2.0 enabled in your BIOS/UEFI firmware. These security measures are required to ensure the game's anti-cheat system functions properly and to prevent unauthorized software from running on your PC.
What Is Secure Boot?
Secure Boot is a security feature that ensures only trusted, digitally signed software can load when your PC starts up. It protects your system from malware and rootkits that try to insert themselves into the boot process. For modern games, this is crucial as many anti-cheat systems, like the one in
Black Ops 7, operate at the kernel level of the operating system. Secure Boot guarantees a secure environment for these anti-cheat tools. It does not impact your game's performance, such as FPS or loading times; it only runs during system startup.
How to Check Secure Boot & TPM Status
Before you enable these features, you should check if your PC supports them and if they're already active.
- Check Secure Boot Status: Press Windows + R, type msinfo32, and press Enter. In the System Information window, look for "BIOS Mode" (it should be UEFI) and "Secure Boot State" (it should be On). If either says "Legacy" or "Off," you need to enable it.
- Check TPM Version: Press Windows + R, type tpm.msc, and press Enter. The TPM Management window will open. Look for "Specification Version," which must be 2.0. It should say, "The TPM is ready for use."
- Check Partition Style: To use Secure Boot, your primary disk must be in GPT partition style, not MBR. Right-click the Start menu and select Disk Management. Right-click your primary disk (C:) and go to Properties. Under the Volumes tab, check the "Partition style." If it says MBR, you must convert it to GPT. You can do this by openingCommand Prompt as an administrator and running the command mbr2gpt /convert /disk:0 /allowFullOS.
How to Enable Secure Boot & TPM 2.0
Once you've confirmed your PC is compatible, you can enable these features in your BIOS/UEFI settings.
Enter BIOS/UEFI: Restart your PC and, during the startup screen, press the key to enter your BIOS (this is often F2, F10, Esc, or Delete, depending on your motherboard brand).Enable TPM 2.0: In the BIOS menu, navigate to the Security or Advanced section. Look for settings related to TPM.- For Intel, this is often called PTT (Platform Trust Technology).
- For AMD, it is often called fTPM (Firmware TPM).
- Set the option to "Enabled."
Enable Secure Boot: After enabling TPM, navigate to the Boot or Security section and look for the "Secure Boot" setting.- Set it to "Enabled."
- If the option is grayed out, you may need to first reset Secure Boot keys to their factory defaults.
Save and Exit: Save your changes and restart your PC.Once your computer reboots, you can launch Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. If both Secure Boot and TPM 2.0 are enabled correctly, the game should start without any errors.
