Tracking your
FPS (frames per second) in Battlefield 6 is crucial for optimizing performance, reducing lag, and ensuring smooth gameplay. While DICE has included an
FPS counter in the game, it’s hidden under a different name—making it tricky for players to find.
In this guide, we’ll show you
two easy methods to enable the FPS counter in Battlefield 6, whether you're on
PC or console. Plus, we’ll cover troubleshooting tips if the counter isn’t working.
Why Enable the FPS Counter in Battlefield 6?
Before jumping into the steps, here’s why monitoring your FPS matters:
- Identify performance drops – Spot sudden FPS dips that cause stuttering.
- Optimize graphics settings – Adjust visuals for the best balance between quality and smooth gameplay.
- Test hardware limits – Check if your PC or console handles Battlefield 6 at optimal settings.
Since Battlefield 6 is currently in
open beta (with a full release in October 2025), enabling the FPS counter helps players report performance issues before launch.
Method 1: Enable FPS Counter via Performance Overlay (PC & Console)
Unlike older Battlefield games, the FPS counter is now labeled as
"Performance Overlay" in the settings. Here’s how to turn it on:
Open Settings – Click the gear icon (⚙️) in the top menu.Go to Graphics – Select the Graphics tab.Access Advanced Settings – Under the Graphics section, choose Advanced.Enable Performance Overlay – Find the Performance Overlay option and select:- Simple – Shows only FPS.
- Extra – Displays FPS + system stats (CPU/GPU usage, temps, etc.).
Once enabled, the FPS counter will appear in the corner of your screen during matches.
Method 2: Enable FPS Counter via Console Command (PC Only)
For PC players who prefer a quicker method, you can use a console command to toggle the FPS counter:
Enable Console – Go to Settings > System > Setup and turn on Command Console.Open Console – Press the tilde key (~) on your keyboard.Type the Command – Enter:- PerfOverlay.DrawFps 1 (enables FPS counter)
- PerfOverlay.DrawFps 0 (disables it)
This method is useful if you frequently toggle the FPS counter for benchmarking.
Troubleshooting: FPS Counter Not Working?
If the FPS counter doesn’t appear, try these fixes:
- Restart the game – Minor glitches may prevent the overlay from showing.
- Update GPU drivers – Outdated drivers can cause display issues.
- Report the bug – If the problem persists, submit a report to DICE via the beta feedback system.
Final Thoughts
Enabling the FPS counter in Battlefield 6 helps you monitor performance, reduce lag, and fine-tune settings for the best experience. Whether you use the Performance Overlay or console commands, keeping an eye on your frame rate ensures smoother gameplay.
