How To Get Solder in Abiotic Factor

In the survival-crafting game Abiotic Factor, you will spend a lot of time cooking soups to stay alive. However, some of the most important items you'll "cook" are not for eating. Solder is one of these crucial non-food recipes, a vital material for progressing the main story and crafting useful gear.This guide will walk you through every step of the process, from finding the recipe to making and using Solder in your GATE facility adventure.

Abiotic Factor: How To Get Solder

Before you can make Solder, you must first find its recipe. This recipe is not learned from a blueprint but by analyzing a specific object.

Find the Blacksmith: The first step is to locate the Blacksmith's base in Manufacturing West. This is a major progression point in the game, and reaching it requires a significant journey. You will need to find Dr. Mayfield on Level Three of the Office Sector, craft a Keypad Hacker, get into Silo Three, and navigate through Flathill to find a Power Cell to repair a forklift.
Analyze the Peculiar Pot: The Blacksmith's base is in the F.O.R.G.E. workshop, located on the bottom-left side of Manufacturing West, near the Tram Station. Once you find his workshop, look for a Peculiar Boiling Pot sitting on the counter. Simply interact with this pot to analyze it and unlock the Solder recipe.

You must also have a Cooking Level of at least 3 to be able to make soups and other recipes. This can be easily achieved by cooking any raw meat, such as Raw Pest Rump or Raw Alien Drumstick, in a Frying Pan.

How to Make Solder

With the recipe unlocked, you now need to gather the ingredients and a pot to cook it in.

Required Materials:

1x Silver Scrap: This is the most difficult ingredient to find. You can obtain Silver Scrap in the form of silver cutlery in the passenger car and bar area of the Train Portal World.
1x Metal Scrap: This is a common resource found by dismantling various items and debris throughout the facility.
1x Cooking Pot: You can use either a regular Cooking Pot or a Makeshift Cooking Pot.
A Powered Stove: You'll need a heat source, such as a Portable Stove or a repaired stove in a kitchen area.

Cooking Instructions:

Fill the pot with clean water.
Place the pot on a powered stove.
Add the ingredients: Hold the Interact button to open the radial menu and place both the Silver Scrap and Metal Scrap into the pot.
Wait for it to cook. The Solder will take a minimum of 5 minutes and 50 seconds to cook. This time can be reduced by 25% if your Cooking Skill is Level 17 and you have the corresponding perk.
Remove and Collect: When the Uncooked Solder is ready, remove the pot from the stove and place it on any surface. Interact with it to "Scoop Up" the Solder. This will yield 4 portions of Solder, which can be stored in your inventory without needing a separate container.

What to Do With Solder

Solder is an incredibly useful material with a few key purposes.

Trade with the Blacksmith: Its main use is to be traded with the Blacksmith for a Fibre Optic Cable. This is one of the three components needed to repair the Synchrotron and progress the main storyline.
Crafting: Solder is also a key ingredient in several useful crafting recipes.
