Christmas is the time of year when people have more time to themselves, which means they have more time for gaming. The festive period is usually the perfect time for gaming no matter what your preference.

This means whether it is enjoy a few laughs and spending some quality time playing slots with our friends at Foxy Bingo, or trying to survive the zombies in Dead Rising, no game is off limits with so many family and friends enjoying each others company. And anyone who owns an Xbox is in luck because there are some great games to play and some tremendous Christmas-themed games too, and we have the best of them listed below.

Rocket League

Since it came on the scene in 2015, Rocket League has quickly established itself as one of the most popular online titles around. And while trying to succeed in Rocket League is the typical goal, you could suggest things get even better around the festive period, as the Rocket League developers will always be running special events, tournaments and leagues at this time of year, therefore making this a must-play title, especially with friends, over Christmas.

Dead Rising 4

You probably can't tell from the name, but Dead Rising 4, in the developer's own words, is a "Christmas spectacle." And, on loading the game, you may question how this can be the case when Dead Rising 4 takes place after Christmas. However, the zombie attack actually happens on Black Friday during the sales, with the undead ravaging an entire shopping centre. And, to enhance the festive feel further, there are numerous weapons that tie into Christmas, such as the Electric Wreath. You may not find many zombie games suited to this time of year, but this is undoubtedly one of them, and it could well be the best.

Fortnite

It doesn’t matter what time of year it is; Fortnite will often find itself on the lists of the best games around, even though it seems like it’s been available to play forever. The reason Fortnite gets the nod here is that, like many top games, it moves through seasons and chapters and will always make a big effort around Christmas. And 2022 is no different. Factor into that the fantastic multiplayer angle and that you can team up with friends during the festive period to take on others in what is a battle royale bonanza, and you can see why it's the perfect fit for Christmas.

Minecraft

We’re going to finish with what seems like another obvious choice in Minecraft. The reason why Minecraft, in general, has become so popular over the years is that players can play the game in the way they want to play it. They’re effectively creating their own experience, and at Christmas time, they have the ability to do that too. Imagine playing a game in a festive style in the way you imagined it, not how a developer imagined it. Well, in Minecraft, you can do precisely that, which makes for an all-round more enjoyable and more personalised experience, which you can also share with others if the mood takes you.
