Flight is a real game-changer in the big 2.0 update for Wuthering Waves, adding a real layer of thrill to getting around the howling cliffs and floating islands of Rinascita. It's not necessarily a replacement for the classic grapple and gliding, but it is an exciting new avenue for players to explore the world.
Flying has its own quirks, and on compact areas like that of Ragunna, WuWa, you will barely find it useful. Learn all the important details about this movement ability, from how flight works to how to unlock it for the very first time.
How to Unlock Flight in Wuthering Waves?
Automatically, players will be given the Flight mechanic once they complete the early story quest, The Sacred Breeze So Often Breathes, in Rinascita - the one that tours Ragunna with Zani, one of the members of the Montelli family. Thankfully, this is very story-heavy. You can skip through all of the scenes to get to the Order of the Deep.
Once inside the temple, flying will be at your fingertips, but you won't be able to use it immediately since there won't be any appropriate places for a takeoff.
How to Use Flight in WuWa
There are two preconditions that must be met for you to effectively use the Flight mechanic:
- Be at a sufficient height.
- You have to be in Rinascita.
Unfortunately, the flying feature is currently region-locked, and you can only use this mechanic in Rinascita. For finding collectibles like Windchimes in Mt. Firmament, you will have to rely on conventional exploration methods.
Standing at a great height, such as at the edge of a cliff or atop of a tower, your utility tool will automatically change to the new Wings tool. It will allow you to fly across the sky. Just jump off the ledge and click your Utility button to instantly fly.
You can also bind Flight to your Utility Wheel for easy access. Elevation and Rinascita restrictions still apply, though. Open this wheel with the Tab key or by pressing D-Pad Left.
Once you're airborne, you can start diving to pick up a burst of speed or rise to greater heights. In order to reach a higher altitude, you'll have to build up momentum. There is, however, a workaround for this: Ultra Flight. It allows you to fly freely, but it does include a trade-off of using more Flight stamina. Fortunately, your regular Stamina within WuWa doesn't get affected. By default, Ultra Flight is set on your Sprint/Dodge button.
