How to defeat Gluttonous Monstrosity - Lu Hongliu in Wuchang Fallen Feathers

The Gluttonous Monstrosity - Lu Hongliu is an optional boss in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, but defeating it offers valuable rewards. This boss fight, located in the Luo Courtyard near the Shu Sanctum, is significantly easier if you know the right strategy, especially by using a specific spell you acquire on the way.

Where to Find the Gluttonous Monstrosity - Lu Hongliu

To reach the boss, you must first navigate through the Luo Courtyard, which is a part of Chapter 1, "Worship's Rise."

Start from the Shu Sanctum: From the Shu Sanctum, take the left path through the village where you fight the Corrupted Tang officer mini-boss.

Cross the Bridge: You can either climb a ladder or walk across a seemingly broken bridge to continue.

Head South: Pass through the village and head south until you reach some stairs guarded by a gunner and two dogs.

Encounter a Cannon Enemy: Go past the enemies, and you'll find a building. Be cautious of a large enemy with a cannon that will roll a boulder at you as you pass through the door on the other side.

Find the Ladder: After dealing with the cannon enemy (or simply running past), go to the first building on your right. You will see a ladder that leads to the roof.

Use Scaffolding: Cross the scaffolding to the other side and descend the ladder there.

Defeat the Troupe Dancer: You will come face to face with a feathered Troupe Dancer. Before engaging him, take a right turn and open the door to unlock a shortcut back to the Shu Sanctum. You can make quick work of the Dancer by luring him to the gunpowder pots scattered around the area. Defeating him rewards you with the Infernal Flames spell, which is crucial for the upcoming boss fight.

Reach Luo Courtyard: Go through the alleyways beside the opera house, and you'll soon reach the Luo Courtyard. Before you head into the fight, take the path to your right and break the glowing tree to unlock a direct shortcut between the Shu Sanctum and the Luo Courtyard. This is a critical shortcut for quick retries if you die.

How to Defeat the Gluttonous Monstrosity - Lu Hongliu

The fight against Lu Hongliu can be made simple with the right preparation and strategy.

Recommended Gear and Items:

• Weapon: A One-Handed Sword with the Flickering Blade Discipline is highlyeffective due to its fast attacks. The Deluxe Edition's Watcher's Gazeis a great option.
• Healing/Buffs:
  • Temperance Bone Needle: Increases your defense and resistance.
  • Purple Camellia: Reduces Corruption build-up, which Lu Hongliu inflicts.
  • Manna Vase: A valuable healing item.
• Spells: The Infernal Flames spell is essential.
• Armor: Equip any gear that provides Corruption resistance.
• Status Effects: Have a weapon that can inflict the Burn status effect.

Boss Fight Strategy:

Preparation: Before entering the Luo Courtyard, activate the Temperance Bone Needle and ensure your Infernal Flames spell is ready and equipped.

Initial Encounter: Lu Hongliu will immediately leap at you as you enter. Dodge this initial attack. Get a few quick hits in to apply the Burn status effect and build up your Skyborn Might meter.

Keep Your Distance: Lu Hongliu is incredibly fast and performs rapid attacks. Your main objective is to keep your distance and focus on survival.

Spam Infernal Flames: Use your Skyborn Might to spam the Infernal Flames spell. This spell deals consistent fire damage and applies the Burn status effect, which is very effective against the boss.

Watch for Corruption: The boss will frequently spit blood that can inflict the Corruption status effect. Be wary of this and use a Purple Camellia if needed.

Stun Phase (Below 50% HP): Once you've dealt enough damage to get the boss's HP below 50%, quickly create space between you and the boss. Lu Hongliu will spew blood intothe air and let out a scream that can stun you.

Exploit the Stun: Wait for the boss to slam its head into the ground, which will leave it temporarily stunned and vulnerable. This is your chance to move in andland a few quick, powerful blows.

Repeat: Afterthe stun phase, resume your strategy of keeping your distance, dodgingto build Skyborn Might, and spamming the Infernal Flames spell to finish the fight.

Upon defeating the Gluttonous Monstrosity - Lu Hongliu, you will be rewarded with a large amount of Red Mercury and the Echo of Lu Hongliu spell. This makes the challenging optional boss fight well worth the effort.
