In this guide entry we explain how to upgrade your weapons in Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2, let's see.

Space Marine 2 breaks from its predecessor and amplifies the difficulty scale to the point that grizzled veterans of Warhammer 40K find themselves strapped in, enjoying this wild ride. With every edition, this franchise evolves, bringing with it a lot of new elements which make players think differently about Warhammer 40K very fast. Since there is no handholding regarding tutorials within the game, one of the major aspects that will make things easier is prioritizing weapon upgrades.

You might get away with your default weapons at the beginning, but once things start heating up in the game, you will find yourself falling behind, not upgrading. Below is a step-by-step process on how to upgrade your weapons in Space Marine 2.

Note: The way game progression works is such that it is a system of nudges towards experimentation with different kinds of weapons and playing styles. Sure, upgrading your favorite weapons works quite great, but don't be afraid to use new ones and find their particular strengths. Often, the best weapon is not necessarily the most powerful one but rather one that you feel comfortable using.

How To Upgrade Your Weapons in Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2?

In Space Marine 2, an upgrade of your arsenal would mean doing a tactical trade-off between strategy in-game and resource management. The most important resources that would aid the process of upgrading your arsenal would come in three different kinds: purple, golden, and green Armory Data. This resource can be accrued from different varieties of in-game activities: completion of missions, defeat of enemies, or simply exploration of the game world.

The more you fight and use them, the more XP points they will gain. Thus, this is an experience-based progression system that, in many ways, attracts the players to try different sets of weapons and ways of action. The catch in all of this is that once any weapon has acquired a certain amount of experience, it stops being able to continue gaining experience. You'll then want to spend Armory Data on upgrading the weapon to unlock its true potential.

Which kind of Armory Data is required for upgrading will depend on the rarity of the weapon and to what level the player wants to enhance it. Probably a common class weapon would require purple Armory Data for the first few upgrades it gets, or maybe rarer classes will always need golden or green varieties. You will be able to fine-tune your arsenal with your favorite playstyle, or always have the most powerful weapons available by strategically allocating your Armory Data.

Armory Data Acquisition

For the Armory Data in Space Marine 2, go to the Armory Hall of your Battle Barge and select "Trails". Completing these rewards the player with Green Armor Data, which can be used to upgrade starting weapons. If you want to upgrade a particular weapon, select its menu and apply an Armory Data slot located at the bottom.

Higher-tier Armory Data, such as Purple or Gold, are going to be targeted toward the completion of Operation missions on higher difficulties. Minimal and Average threats only yield Green Armor Data, while Substantial and Ruthless are more likely to yield Purple and Gold, respectively. The higher it gets, the bigger the chances of rarer data drop.

Remember that Armory Data spawn points in missions are fixed and do not change based on the difficulty. As soon as you get the hang of spawn points, you will be able to farm the data with ease. Moreover, always consider performing flanking maneuvers or taking cover against enemies in order to provide you with a higher chance of survival for gathering more data.

To farm data more efficiently, team up with other players through co-op mode. Not only will this be helping you clear missions much quicker, but it can also heighten the general probability of rare data drops appearing.

Data Armory

Armory Data is one of the most valuable resources in Space Marine 2, and it's what you'll be using to upgrade your arsenal. Once you've collected the required amount, head into your weapon's menu. The majority of the weapons have at least two or more base designs for each Armory slot. Mousing over a base design will show you the stat shifts with each selection. The starting weapon you choose greatly affects how you're upgrading it.

Upgrade the first tier of a weapon and deploy it in missions to gain XP and level it up, thus opening more tiers of progress. After that, Purple Armory Data will be needed for upgrade continuation of a weapon through the initial tiers. Repeat this until you reach the Golden tier, which requires Gold Armory Data when upgrading your weapons to the fabled Gold Relic.

Strategically pick the base design and wisely invest Armory Data to max out the weapon. Experiment with different combinations to find the perfect set-up for your playstyle. Remember, the path to Golden tier requires patience and persistence.
