But, just like the foundation planet, Planet Humble has sources for every resource imaginable, even the rarest varieties of quartz, such as solar, quasar, and magnetar quartz. These quartzes aren't visible at first in the Planet Crafter downloadable content, but they're actually quite easy to find later on.
The farther one goes onto the Planet Humble, strange rock formations can be found, such as that shown above. These are not natural, as it would appear to be in the base planet but also unrelated to the terraformers or to ancient aliens.
Instead, these are cosmic quartz deposits, a special kind of ore existing only on Planet Humble. The cosmic quartz is still an unusable rock formation, unlike the other new ores that can be mined right away, since it is solid brown in color.
What you do want to do instead is wait until the planet's Terraformation Index falls within the GTi range. That egg-shaped rock up top will have its stone lining eroded away, exposing the cosmic quartz underneath, sometime around the Insects or Breathable Atmosphere stage. Now it's time to mine cosmic quartz like any other mineral.

Cosmic Quartz: Getting Started
Smashing cosmic quartz into usable minerals with an ore crusher is exactly the same process as it is for the other ores on Planet Humble. You can see a hint of that on the back of the T3 Ore Crusher: the right panel in the input locker has the same hints about the three standard ores, but the left panel has a cosmic quartz ore with the five types of quartz that exist in the main game.
With that said, there are a couple of key things to remember about this process.
Cosmic quartz does not only produce quartz. While it would be much more convenient to get one of each type of quartz from cosmic quartz, it can also produce the rare ores zeolite and osmium, or even two of the same type of quartz.
Any ore crusher can use cosmic quartz. Only the T3 model shows the hint, but you can crush this quartz with any ore crusher. By this stage in the game you should have received the T3 model long before cosmic quartz was available so consider this a heads up and store it accordingly.
Procedural Disasters on Planet Humble
Like in the first, at 250 GTi you'll unlock the Portal Generator building. The purpose is the same as finding and salvaging shipwrecks in different parts of the world, and the price tag is also the same. You get infinite plant seeds and most forms of quartz from procedural wrecks that are otherwise limited.
You won't be able to use an ore extractor to mine cosmic quartz since it's so rare. You can use it to gather the quartz needed for the recipes you'll be able to unlock prior to 250 GTi, but once you've built the Portal Generator, you should use it in order to fill your quartz storage.
