When you start the story route, the first mission you will face is to find and place three gnomes along the road to the White residence before William Dickens passes by. Note that as this is an urgent mission it will not be possible to access another mission until you complete this one.  



To find the first gnome you will have to go in front of the path to the White residence, he is sitting at the beginning of the entrance path against the brick wall that goes to the house in front of the White residence.

To find the second one you will have to go to the town hall, where you will find a house in front of the hallway with an open door, through which you will have to go to find the gnome on the right side.

The last one is next to the side of the gnome you just found. Specifically in the house next to the second gnome's location, which has an open door, which you will have to go through to find him in front of the door.
