How to Save Everyone in The Casting of Frank Stone?
The Locket
In Chapter 12, you will get a Locket on the Augustine's bed-side table. You investigate it, and that leads to a talk about how this could save from evil, just like that book you found earlier said. You are free to keep it for yourself or give it to Stan.
Choice Consequence
You'll be sorry to hear that opting to keep the locket will render Madi susceptible to hypnosis later on in the game, beginning with the screening. If you leave Stan to die here, Madi will survive.
If Madi does have the locket, you will have to get Linda to help her when she's under attack, which will take Madi to the Horologium. You then have to join up with Augustine and select to leave when the option arises. Augustine will let you leave. If Linda is still alive by this stage, then Madi will be able to escape; otherwise, she will have to go through another chase with Frank.
Chris's Fate
Below, in Chapter 5, Chris will be transported through the portal back in time to 1980. Although it is rather easy to get her to live in either time period, we recommend sending Chris back in time to 1980.
Although it might be tempting to keep Chris in 2024, she doesn't play a significant role in the action at that point and has only one major decision: to step through the screen and return to 1980 or remain. However, a decision you made back in Chapter 3 can make returning through the screen fatal.
A Crucial Decision in Chapter 3
You will have the opportunity to haggle for the Super 8 in the Curiosity Shop in Chapter 3. Provided you do, he won't budge on the price but will throw in a pocket mirror. You shouldn't take it since that mirror is haunted. You can even try going back through the screen with it, and it makes Chris die. Thus, if Chris has it, it is better to send her back to 1980 immediately.
Yes, keeping Chris in the year 2024 for a while will be useful, at least to get more lore from Sam. However, this is not worth it if you want her to survive, so always remember never to take the mirror or be ready to say goodbye to Chris forever.
Additional Considerations
- The Cursed Mirror: This is a mirror uniquely cursed to prevent people in its possession from safely returning through the time portal. There needs to be some sort of associated reason for this, either in the origins of the mirror itself or due to some type of magical property within it.
- Role of Chris in the Novel: While Chris might not play an important role in 2024 within the main storyline, perhaps she has some affiliations or interactions with several of the other characters that may give further detail or even foreshadowing to what transpires later within the story.
- Safety over Lore: A choice between Chris's safety and a desire for more lore has to be made. If you want to save her from dying, then she needs to be sent back to her time immediately. However, if it does not matter to you that she dies, then you may leave her here in 2024 if you would like more lore within this game.
Fate of Stan and Bonnie
In The Casting of Frank Stone, both Stan and Bonnie are destined to meet their doom. However, while Bonnie's situation is hopeless, one can still save Stan. He will be the first casualty in Chapter 14 from Frank's attack. This is an action that cannot be avoided because it is a necessary step; if Stan is not sacrificed, some other character will be killed, and he will, in turn, get killed in this scene later on.
The Power of the Super 8
As the tension builds in 1980, the characters find their major weapon against Frank-the Super 8 camera from the Curiosity Shop. Without this device, Frank is invisible, but with this device, he's repelled. The characters are able to find him by looking for signs of fire from the ground and then use the camera to their advantage.
The Threat of the Omniverse
Despite some characters seeming to survive or appearing in the future, the Omniverse dictates that nobody is really safe. Even the ones fated to survive could still die in 1980 if Frank catches up with them. Whenever possible, recording Frank is essential to survival; it provides necessary breathing room.
The Final Showdown
This climactic confrontation of Chapter 13 begins with Sam in control. Since Sam cannot die, but he can be injured, those injuries will carry over to Linda, who will pick up the fight. If she fails, Frank will add her to his list of victims.
Other Considerations
Outside of these major points, these are other issues to think about:
- Character Development: The decisions in these pivotal scenes have the potential to seriously impact character development and relationships.
- Narrative Tension: Choices with Stan and Bonnie have a deeper effect on the overall tension in the pacing of a story, besides the manner of employment of the Super 8 camera.
- Thematic Consequences: The fates of characters pitted against Frank and the Omniverse may be utilised to draw upon the themes of fate and free will, and the consequences of one's choices.
- Here is how you get the best ending in The Casting of Frank Stone. Note the following steps in detail for your gameplay:
Early Game
- Chapter 1: Begin by rescuing the baby, then escape via the pipe. This won't hurt or help your rating, but it'll give you peace of mind.
- Chapter 3: When the opportunity to haggle for the camera arises, you should accept the first offer. It may seem irrelevant, but believe us, this can be key in the broader scheme of things.
Mid-Game
- Chapter 5: If playing as Jaime, always flee rather than attempt to save. This might sound counter-intuitive, but this will, in fact help Chris's case.
- Game-wide: When possible record Frank. Keep in mind, you won't have to wait as long for your camera to reload if you reload while recording.
- Skill Checks: Pass every skill check that comes your way. It may be challenging, but these are the keys to achieving the best ending.
- Chapter 10: Use the Horologium to send Chris back to 1980. This will have implications later in the story.
- Chapter 12: When presented with the locket, either discard it or press on and allow Stan to take the contents. The choice is irrelevant to the outcome but can introduce more complexity to the story later.
Late Game
- Chapter 13: In storm tunnels find your way over to Jaime and Chris.
- Jaime: Go back the way you came to get to the camera, then go left, then right, jump over a window, through the door on the right, and take the second left. Get ready to fight off Frank from attacking Jaime.
- Chris: Hear her screams, find the stairs to the gap in the wall, make your way through, into the door on the right, and keep Chris hidden.
- Chapter 13: Once the final confrontation happens between Frank and either Sam or Linda is written down, remember once he fails it; Sam will live, but Linda will die.
- Chapter 14: Let Frank kill Stan. It may seem tragic, but this is an essential plot development.
- Chapter 14: As Linda, you will be in charge of repairing the generator before time runs out. This forms a necessary strand to keep the survivors alive.
- Final Confrontation: Save Madi when Frank tries to attack her. Elevator kills Linda, although Madi dies later.
- Chase Sequence: Frank chases either Linda or Madi. In this instance, choose to run instead of saving Sam.
- Final Skill Checks: Continuing as Sam, hit all the skill checks during the final chase.
By following these guidelines, you'll be able to save everyone in The Casting of Frank Stone and experience the most satisfying conclusion the game has to offer.
