Before you can even think about getting a pet, you need to upgrade your house. This will require you to have at least 10,000 gold and a bunch of materials such as wood, stone, and hardwood. Once you have upgraded your house to level 2, you will have the option to build a pet house on your farm.

Once you have upgraded your house, you can head to the Animal Merchant located in the forest area above the Wizard’s tower. Here, you can purchase either a cat or a dog for 1,000 gold. The cat is a black and white tuxedo cat while the dog is a brown and white corgi.
