Anomaly fields surround the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone; these are places of extremely high-level anomalous activity that can harm your delicate Stalker, but they also happen to be good places to find artifacts. These strange things have peculiar physical characteristics that might be useful, harmful, or just plain dangerous. You can trade them for coupons or equip them to use their abilities. Artifacts from anomalies can be obtained by following the steps outlined in this tutorial.

How to get artifacts from anomalies in Stalker 2?

Artifact hunting requires using the scanner. During your first mission, "There and Back Again," the scanner is attached to the body of a corpse, dressed in an orange hazmat suit, which is in the mobile lab bunker. The corpse is lifeless, lying behind the glass case in the corridor.

Hover your cursor over the tiny yellow electronic equipment known as the Echo Detector in your inventory. Place it in the green equipment slot that is beneath the weapon and armor slots by dragging and dropping it. Here the scanner is outfitted. To access the scanner, press Q after bringing up the radial menu (on a PC).

As you get closer to an artifact the scanner will emit a rising electronic beep with a rapidly blinking blue light. To accurately locate an artifact within an anomaly you will want to use these signals. If you are standing directly over an artifact, the scanner light will not flash but it will stay on steady. You will also hear short, steady beeps. Approach the artifact when you see it, and press F for grabbing it on PC.

Stalker 2 artifact usage instructions

Now, the special equipment slot in Stalker 2 is on the left side of the screen, right underneath the slot for the scanner. To activate an artifact, you'll want to open your inventory and drag-and-drop it onto that slot by hovering your cursor over it. Once you've equipped an artifact, its special abilities will either help or hurt you.

As you venture forth and progress through the story, you'll eventually stumble upon anomalies throughout the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone. During the early side quest Dangerous Visitors, Gloomy will let you know about the anomaly that's out in the nearby cave, and various NPCs in settlements and the wilderness will let drop that there are nearby anomalies, as well. Not every anomaly contains an artifact.
