For players who have experienced corruption on multiple occasions, redownloading their saves has been shown to temporarily resolve the issue, allowing them to resume playing.

Do you have an automatic save?


Reportedly, auto and rapid saves appear to be the source of corrupted saves for certain players. To get around this, you can't save the game again until you've gone through each saved file and removed the corrupted ones. You should be able to use manual saves again after the corrupted files have been deleted. By manually saving the game, you are essentially taking control of the situation.

Correction for the Hex Editor

  • Disabling Steam Cloud for Stalker 2 in Steam's settings will stop the software from automatically synchronizing your game files.
  • After that, go to where you want to save the file: At the C:UsersYOUR USER NAME directory, in the Stalker2 SavedSTEAMGamesData folder.
  • Your deleted saves should be in this folder. Before you begin troubleshooting, make a backup of all of your saved files and put them in a secure place.
  • Here, under C:UsersYOUR USER NAMEAppDataLocal, remove the whole Stalker2 folder.
  • Fire up Stalker 2 and begin a fresh match. To speed through the introduction, skip any cutscenes.
  • Make a new save by manually saving once you're in the game. After that, exit the game completely.
  • Return to the location where you saved your new save game, which is the save games/data folder.
  • Locate the freshly generated save and make a note of its name; you'll require it for the subsequent procedures.
  • An old, damaged save file can be edited with the use of a hex editor. You have the option to use another online hex editor or download one for free.
  • Get out your trusty hex editor and load up one of your corrupted or misplaced save files. Make sure the save isn't malfunctioning. Proceed to the next accessible file if the current one cannot be read.
  • Revert to the last working save (from Step 8) and leave it unchanged once you've identified the corrupted file. Copy and paste the name from the new save you made previously into the hex editor's "Save as" window.
  • Restore the amended filename by transferring it to the SaveGamesData folder.
  • Try loading your save file in Stalker 2 now. There shouldn't be any problems loading the save if you've followed the instructions to the letter.
  • Be careful not to manually rename any stored files while you are performing all of this. Verify that the name corresponds to the one in your new save file using the hex editor.
