You are tired of how many times those invisible foes kill you in the game, like the rest of us. You can get poltergeists and bloodsuckers, a couple of separate yet equally problematic varieties. Read on, because we've dealt with these enemies in Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl enough to have a strategy for defeating them.

How to defeat invisible enemies in Stalker 2?



There's a number of dangers lurking in the game's open world, and it's considerably more challenging when you can't see them coming. It can be quite frustrating to fight Bloodsuckers and Poltergeists because they are completely undetectable before they strike. All of them can be addressed in this manner.

Bloodsucker Battle Strategies

Of the two types, bloodsuckers are more common. Their mouths are enlarged with tentacles in their mouths, similar to lampreys or leeches. They also vaguely resemble deformed humanoids. Named for that. These nimble meat-eaters disappear from view before striking. A few things we have picked up about how to kill them:


  • You might see a blurring of its movement when they scout the area in advance of an attack. Shooting a couple shots in its direction is highly recommended once you see it. There is blood-spatter, you did good.
  • If you want to be able to find out where the Bloodsucker is, you may also take his footsteps into account. While they are invisible, their footsteps can still be audible—especially if they walk on uneven ground or through grass. You may use its low growling sound as a reference for direction, too.
  • Dodging and counterattack is the clue; bloodsuckers' attacks will be most obvious exactly before they attack. You can either try to dodge it or receive a single hit and counterattack while they are still visible. Remember, they always become visible after an attack, but only for a very short moment. After that, they become invisible again.
  • Because you'll be firing at Bloodsuckers from close range so often, it's ideal to pick weapons that provide high damage at short distances. Due to them having to consume a fair amount of your pellets, a shotgun or sawed-off will suffice. An SMG with their fast fire rate will also work well.
  • Take time out to recover between attacks; how many times you must to do this may vary with the level of the game. After an attack, a bloodsucker will revert to being an invisible monster and stand and wait for you to become distracted. You should be able to heal from any injury before the next attack.

How to Defeat Poltergeists



The more problematic of the two types of ghosts is the poltergeist. You can find an Electric and a Fire version. They are almost invisible even when they attack, but for short spurts they become large balls of fire or electricity. They revert to their true form when they die, which is a grotesque humanoid with short legs and an extremely large head. Though similar, the two types require two different tactics. First their similarities, then on to their contrasts with regards to strategies and attack patterns:


  • Since they are usually hard to see, a spread weapon, such as a shotgun, is the way to go. In this manner, if you aim toward the enemy's general direction, the spray pattern should gradually weaken them.
  • Toss a grenade: Due to area damage, grenades make short work of poltergeists. That is, if there is enough room to take the explosion, and you happen to have one spare.
  • Both varieties will use long-range attacks; to dodge them, you have to be fleet-footed-moving and ducking and jumping at all times.
  • If you manage to hit a Poltergeist, it will emit a small puff of dust that lets you know you hit it. If possible, take advantage of this and try to get in some more damage.
  • Make sure to bring a lot of healing items with you: in particular, the burn damage from the Fire Poltergeist has a risk of getting out of control. As you're dealing with them, heal up with a Medkit whenever you can.

Poltergeist with an Electric Current



  • Watch out for the things that Electric Poltergeist might throw at you with telekinesis. The good thing is that their opening salvo will most likely catch you off guard, so you can make use of this fact. Aim in the direction of around that floating object you see in mid-air.
  • Another one of their attacks is letting the electric ball pass through you; they'll be showing off their ball shape and try to smash into you. It does a fair amount of damage, so you may want to dodge it if you're able.

Fire Ghost



  • Stay away from them: You will be set on fire when reaching the Fire version, unlike the previous type. Keep your distance and shoot far away from them if you can.
  • Use augmented reality: At least when they're not completely invisible these are easier to detect due to their flaming character. So normal armament, like an assault rifle will have an easier time hitting them. In a pinch, even a decent SMG will suffice.
  • Avoid the burn effects: The status effect of a Fire Poltergeist causes burn damage with every attack, and can even continue to tick when it is not attacking. Dodging their attacks becomes so much more important in light of it.
