Having trouble with your hired help in Schedule 1? It's a common frustration when your botanists refuse to tend to their plants or your workers seem inexplicably stuck in one spot. These glitches can significantly hinder the efficiency of your operation. This guide provides a structured approach to diagnose and resolve common issues with your NPC workers, ranging from simple checks to more involved solutions. By understanding the typical causes and applying the suggested troubleshooting steps, you can get your Schedule 1 enterprise running smoothly once again.

Fix Schedule 1 Broken Bug Workers

When your NPC workers aren't performing as expected, whether they're standing idle or exhibiting strange behavior, here's a breakdown of troubleshooting methods you can try:

1. Workers Doing Nothing (Idle Workers)

If a worker is simply standing around and not performing their assigned tasks, investigate the following:
  • Bed Assignment: The most fundamental requirement for a worker to function is having an assigned bed. Ensure that the idle worker has a specific bed claimed as theirs. If not, go into your base management interface and assign them a bed.
  • Wages Paid: Workers in Schedule 1 need to be paid regularly to continue working. Check your finances and ensure that the idle worker has received their due wages. An unpaid worker will refuse to work.
  • Supply Chain Setup (Especially for Botanists): Workers like botanists require access to the necessary supplies to perform their jobs. For example, botanists need seeds and empty pots. Verify that you have a proper supply chain established and that the botanist has access to these resources. If the required supplies are not linked to their workstation or storage, they will not be able to work.

2. Workers Ignoring Specific Tasks or Spots (e.g., Botanists and Plants)

Sometimes, a botanist might diligently work on some plants but completely ignore others. Here's what to check:

  • Check Placement: If a specific plant pot is placed too close to a wall or anotherobject, it might be physically unreachable for the worker's pathfinding. Try moving the problematic pot slightly away from any obstructions tocreate more space.
  • Spacing Matters: Inconsistent spacing between interactable objects can sometimes confuse the AI. Try repositioning the problematic pots to align them moreconsistently with other pots that the botanist is successfully tendingto.
  • Invisible Clutter: There might be invisible pathfinding obstacles caused by the placementof nearby objects like empty pots, lights, or other decorations. Trytemporarily removing any such nearby objects to see if it resolves theissue, and then reposition them carefully.

3. Workers Getting Stuck

If a worker is physically stuck in one location or seems fixated on a single spot without performing any actions:

  • Reset Them (Knock Out): A somewhat drastic but often effective method is to temporarilyincapacitate the worker. You can achieve this by "knocking them out."This action will leave them unconscious for approximately one in-gameday. When they wake up, their AI behavior is often reset, resolving thestuck state.
  • Relocate Items They Interact With: Identify any objects that the stuck worker frequently interacts with(e.g., a specific storage container, a crafting station). Try removingthese surrounding objects and then placing them back in slightlydifferent positions. This can sometimes clear up pathfinding issues.
  • Pull the Body (After Knocking Out): After knocking a stuck worker unconscious, you can sometimes physically move their body to a different location, away from any potentiallyobstructed zones. Once they wake up, they might be able to navigatefreely again.

4. Chemists and Their Simplicity

Chemists, due to the nature of their task, are generally less prone to pathfinding and other movement-related bugs:

  • Assign to Station: Ensure the chemist is correctly assigned to a specific chemistrystation. Once assigned, they typically function without significantissues as their work involves staying at their station.
  • Easier to Manage: Because chemists don't move around the base as much as other workers, they are usually much easier to manage and less likely to encounter bugs related to movement or object interaction.

5. Workers Misbehaving or "Stealing" Product

In rare and more severe cases, you might encounter a worker who takes anentire shelf of finished product and then does nothing with it:

  • Unfixable Bug? (Consider Firing): If you encounter this behavior consistently with a specific worker, itmight indicate a more severe, potentially unfixable bug within their AI. In such instances, the most practical solution might be to fire that worker.
  • Remove All Assignments: Before firing, try taking away all of their assignments, includingtheir bed and job roles. This might sometimes reset their behavior, although it's not guaranteed.
  • Avoid Rehiring: When you need to hire a replacement, make sure to recruit a different worker to avoid potentially re-hiring the same bugged AI.

General Fix Tips for Worker Issues:

  • Save Often: Regularly saving your game is crucial in Schedule 1. If a workerbecomes severely bugged and unfixable, having a recent save can preventsignificant losses in progress.
  • Be Flexible with Layout: While perfect symmetry in your base layout might look aestheticallypleasing, it can often lead to pathfinding issues for your workers. Beflexible with your design and prioritize functionality over strictsymmetry.
  • Reassign Tasks: If a worker seems persistently broken but not to the point of needingto be fired, try removing all of their currently assigned tasks and then reassigning new ones. This can sometimes refresh their AI and resolveminor glitches.

Bysystematically applying these troubleshooting steps, you should be ableto diagnose and resolve most common issues you encounter with your NPCworkers in Schedule 1, ensuring a more efficient and less frustratingco-op experience.
