Exploring the treacherous worlds of Revenge of the Savage Planet is no easy task, especially when deadly toxic gases stand in your way. One of the most hazardous locations is
Chuggler’s Swamp on Stellaris Prime, where poisonous fumes can quickly deplete your health. To survive these lethal environments, you’ll need the
Default Air Filter upgrade for your suit.
In this comprehensive guide, we’ll walk you through the step-by-step process to unlock the
Default Air Filter and its essential companion upgrade, the
Toxic Deshocker, ensuring you can traverse toxic zones without fear.
Step 1: Starting the "Breathe In, Don’t Choke" Quest
Your journey begins on
Zenithian Rift, where you’ll receive the
"Breathe In, Don’t Choke" mission. Follow these steps to progress:
Enter the Icy Cavern – Head toward Brrrts Frozen Grotto, an icy cave system filled with environmental hazards.Break Through the Ground – Use your Stomp ability on the cracked floor in the center of the grotto to descend into the Depths of Trrn.Gather Lava – Before venturing deeper, collect Lava to burn away spider webs blocking your path (use your Pump Gun to shoot them).Step 2: Triggering the Poisonous Gas
As you advance through the Depths of Trrn, you’ll encounter a chamber with
floating rocks and green geysers. Here’s what to do next:
Stomp on a Floating Rock – This will crack the ground, releasing toxic gas and updating your quest.Follow the Quest Marker – Exit the chamber and head toward Plyxor’s Shaft.Use Grind Rails – Ride the rails upward to reach Bilodeau's Floating Isle, where the Default Air Filter awaits.Step 3: Unlocking the Default Air Filter
Once you arrive at Bilodeau's Floating Isle, follow these steps to claim your upgrade:
Locate the Supply Crate – Look for a floating vertical island at the center of the area.Activate the Three Buttons – Follow the power cables and shoot the nearby buttons to unlock the supply crate.Claim Your Reward – Open the crate to obtain the Default Air Filter.
Note: While this upgrade helps, it doesn’t provide full protection against all toxins. To maximize its effectiveness, you’ll need the Toxic Deshocker.
Step 4: Obtaining the Toxic Deshocker Upgrade
To fully resist deadly gases, you must upgrade your filter with the Toxic Deshocker. Here’s how:
Travel to the Summit of Ruin – Use the grind rails to reach this high-altitude location.Enter the Nearby Cave – Inside, you’ll encounter a massive creature—the Alpha Toxwin.Scan and Capture the Alpha Toxwin –- Stun it by hitting its head 3-4 times.
- Use your Whip to capture it.
Return to Stellaris Prime – Teleport back to your base and research the Alpha Toxwin.Craft the Toxic Deshocker – You’ll need:- 400 Aluminum
- 525 Carbon
- 325 Silicon
Once crafted, equip the Toxic Deshocker to fully neutralize toxic threats, allowing you to explore hazardous areas safely.
Final Tips for Surviving Toxic Zones
- Always carry healing items – Even with the upgrades, some areas may still pose risks.
- Upgrade your suit further – Additional defensive mods can enhance survivability.
- Watch for environmental cues – Green gas and damaged terrain often signal danger.
Now that you’ve secured the Default Air Filter and Toxic Deshocker, no poisonous swamp or toxic cavern will stand in your way. Happy exploring, Space Ranger!
