AMD Ryzen Zen 2 may not work with the 300 series motherboards.

The motherboard maker MSI may have unwittingly revealed that AMD Zen 2 processors, also known as 3rd generation Ryzen, will not work on the older 300 series chipsets motherboards, such as X370.

The controversy arises from a customer service response in which MSI claims that the new CPUs will only work with the 400 series, such as the B450 and X470 chipsets, which has caused the owners of older boards to start worrying.

According to AMD AMD, they say that only the X470 and B450 chipsets will be compatible with the AMD Ryzen Zen 2 CPU.

Many did not expect this news and expected the new AMD CPU to work with all older motherboards, but this is in the hands of individual motherboard manufacturers with respect to whether they are compatible with AMD Zen 2 CPUs or do not.

Keep in mind that motherboard manufacturers have been affected by the slowdown in sales in the last 9 months, and MSI says that this is due in large part to the limited availability of Intel CPUs of 14nm 8 and 9th generation.

Probably the motherboard manufacturers are in discontent knowing that the third generation of CPU will not require a new board.

It is not the first time that we see something like this, in the year 2017 the same thing happened with the Intel Z370 chipset. ASRock was the one who broke the news that the Intel 200 series chipsets would not be compatible with the future CPUs of Coffee Lake.

AMD made a breakthrough in improving stability and memory support throughout the first few months and, while the latest X470 motherboards have new features, they did not offer much more performance.
