Evil's Protector is the first major boss you'll encounter in Necesse. This large, flying creature appears only at night and retreats with the dawn. This guide will explain how to summon and defeat this formidable foe.

Summoning Evil's Protector: A Mysterious Portal

You summon Evil's Protector using a Mysterious Portal. This item can be obtained through:

• Drops from various underground and surface (nighttime) mobs.
• Chests found in forest caves.

After your first victory, you'll gain the ability to craft Mysterious Portals, allowing you to challenge the boss again.

Necesse: How to Beat the First Boss

Evil's Protector doesn't have distinct phases in the traditional sense, but its attack patterns evolve as its health decreases.

Initial Attacks:

• Fires three fireballs in a widening cone at set intervals. These are easilydodged by staying close to the boss and moving around it.

Mid-Health Attacks (around 2/3 HP):

• Flies into the sky and fires fireballs at the ground. Red dots indicate theimpact locations, making them relatively easy to avoid.
• Continues the cone fireball attack.
• Adds homing projectiles that chase the player for a considerable time.

Throughout the Fight:

• Spawns two portals that periodically summon minions. Destroy these portals to avoid distractions.
• Gains speed as the fight progresses, making dodging more challenging.
• Will flee at dawn if not defeated, returning with full health when summoned again.

Drops from Evil's Protector: Rewards for Victory

• First Kill: Drops a Demon Heart (used for crafting).
• Subsequent Kills:
  • One of four Foci trinkets (combining all four creates the Balanced Focus, granting 15% increased damage).
  • 12 Demonic Bars (used to upgrade crafting stations).
  • One Force of Wind.

Utilizing Your Rewards: Demonic Crafting

The Demonic Bars are used to upgrade your Workbench into a DemonicWorkbench and your Anvil into a Demonic Anvil. These upgraded craftingstations unlock more advanced gear recipes, preparing you for thechallenges ahead. The Demon Heart is also used in crafting recipes.Collecting all four Foci allows you to create the Balanced Focus, apowerful damage-boosting trinket.
