Metaphor and Bardon You can recruit ReFantazio into your party. This character is a metaphor of the Commander Archetype since this individual is greatly disciplined. Sure, Bardon is a great leader, but leveling up his Bond Ranks actually gives your team the "Escape Artist" talents, which makes you more likely to flee from battle.

All the information you will need is here to unlock Bardon and a way to befriend him in Metaphor ReFantazio.

How to unlock Bardon in Metaphor ReFantazio?



Once completing the main mission entitled "Apprehend the Real Kidnapper," you will be able to unlock Bardon, starting on July 6 or later in the game depending on how you have progressed through it.

"Apprehend the Real Kidnapper" Details of the main quest:

  • July 6th or a later date is available.
  • You can do this at any time within 10 in-game days of receiving the quest; but it's recommended that you do it as soon as possible, so you can have Bardon earlier.
  • Once you've done the above, you can recruit Bardon as a follower and then select the Commander archetype.

Finding Bardon



After you have finished the quest, Bardon can be found waiting for you at Martira Castle Town. You can start your search in the town center. If you can't find him there, check the area around the sanctoress' house. If later on you need to fill in the Bond Ranks, do look for Bardon about the manor.

Bond Ranks and Rewards

As you get nearer to Bardon, you can get powers and perks through the Bond Rank system that he has. You will need to gain friendship by having conversations with him and doing tasks associated with him. The following below is the best responses to make Bardon's MAG for each Bond Rank, but feel free to role-play in whatever way you want.


Level 1 Bond



  • This will become available when you've finished Catch the Real Kidnapper.
  • No specific answers are required at this stage, so N/A is the best response.


Advantages of rank:


  • Unlocks Commander Archetype to get you into the Commander class.


Two-Rank Bond



  • Must Arrive to Brilehaven to be available.


Good response:

  • "You're popular."
  • Also "It'll be fine" and "Everything's a challenge."

Advantages of rank:


  • Commander's Enlightenment: MAG cost of researching the Commander's family is reduced.

Bond Level 3



  • Available when you have achieved Rank 2 available at least for two days.


Good answers:

  • "I am behind you."
  • "The job fits you."
  • "You can now protect them."

Rank rewards:

  • Access to the General class with the Commander Archetype: Adept.
  • The Scion ability: You are given two additional inheritance slots.


Bond Level 4



  • This will become available at least two days after Rank 3.

  • Literally, any answer works.
  • "I see you in a whole new light."
  • "That's a great idea."
  • "That's reassuring."


Benefits of rank:


  • When all members of a party are positioned toward the rear, it forms a protective formation that improves defense.
  • Care Package: You will occasionally get goodies from Bardon every morning.


Bond Level 5



  • Availability: Two days after Rank 4 is needed. Level 3 Eloquence Required.


Good answers:


  • Anything works.
  • "I'm leaning toward yes."
  • "Let's think of another strategy."

Benefits of rank:


  • Benefit of Scion: Three inheritance slots are improved.
  • Escape Artist" increases the rate you successfully escape enemy fire.


Credit Rating 6



  • When: at least two days since Rank 5.


Best responses:


  • Anything will work.
  • "The kids are scared."
  • Anything will do.


Rank Rewards:


  • The MAG cost to research the Commander lineage significantly decreases during the adoration of the commander.
  • Quick Swapper: The cost of the turn icon when swapping characters during battle is lowered


Bond Level 7



  • Unlocked when the quest "Right to Rule" is completed.


Good answers:


  • "You're causing no trouble at all."
  • "Let's go tell them."
  • Any response will suffice.
  • Any response will suffice.


Rank rewards:


  • Thanks to Escape Master, you'll make it out of any fight alive, boss or no boss.


Level 8 Bond



  • Unlocked: When Prince Archetype becomes available.

  • "You're still a kind person."
  • "There is no one more qualified."


Rank benefits:


  • Elite Commander Archetype: The Warlord class is unlocked with the rank.
