The Fundamentals of CQC: Getting the Drop on Your Enemy

The core of CQC is about stealth and positioning. You must get close to an enemy without being detected, or your opportunity will be lost.

• Move Silently: In the "New Style" control scheme, you can activate Stalk mode by holding the Left Bumper (LB) on Xbox or L1 on PlayStation. When in this mode, Snake's footsteps are muffled, and the edges of the screen will dim slightly. This slow, silent movement is the best way to get behind an unsuspecting guard.
• Positioning is Key: Move directly behind the enemy. Any lateral movement that puts you in their peripheral vision may cause them to turn around. Timing is everything; if you get too close too fast, they will turn and see you.

Grabbing an Enemy

Once you are directly behind an unalerted enemy, you can initiate a CQC grab.

• New Style: Hold the Right Trigger (RT) on Xbox or R2 on PlayStation. Snake will grab the enemy and put them in a chokehold.As long as you keep the button held down, you will maintain control ofthe guard.
• Legacy Style: The grab button may vary depending on the specific legacy control settings you've chosen, but it is typically the Action button (B on Xbox, Circle on PlayStation).

Interrogation: Gaining Valuable Intel

With an enemy in a chokehold, you can extract critical information that will help you on your mission.

• How to Interrogate: Press the Left Stick into the controller. Snake will threaten the guard, causing them to reveal information.
• Gather All Intel: Most enemies have a few unique pieces of intel, so it's worthinterrogating them multiple times. You'll know you've drained all theirinformation when they begin to repeat themselves.

The intel you gain can include:

• The patrol routes of nearby guards.
• Locations of hidden items or supply stashes.
• The position of a specific objective or area.

Important Note: Do not attempt to interrogate an enemy if other guards are nearby, as the sound will alert them and compromise your stealth.

Follow-Up Actions During CQC

After an interrogation, you can decide how to deal with the enemy.

Choke/Knock Out	Repeatedly press the Right Trigger (RT) or Right Bumper (RB)	Snake will choke the enemy until they pass out. This is a non-lethal option.

Moving and Dragging Enemies

If you grab an enemy in an exposed area, it's wise to drag them to a safer, more hidden location.
