Discover whether to assist Prochek or Olbram in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
Early in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, you'll encounter side quests in Tachov and Zhelejov, putting you in the middle of a rivalry between Prochek and Olbram.1 This guide explores the "Mice" and "Frogs" quests, helping you decide which side to support (or if you can support both).

Can You Help Both Prochek and Olbram?

While Tachov and Zhelejov are at odds, it's possible to play both sides for a significant portion of the quests. This allows you to experience more of the story and gain insights into both settlements. However, a point will come where you must choose a side, preventing a fully favorable outcome for both.

KCD2: Should You Help Prochek or Olbram

If you prefer to align with one side from the start, there's no significant difference in the rewards or consequences. Both men want to sabotage the other, and the choice comes down to personal preference for the tasks involved.
  • Prochek (Mice): Prochek wants you to paint Olbram's bull blue. This involves obtaining a recipe from Radovan and dye from the tailor.
  • Olbram (Frogs): Olbram wants you to steal the Zhelejov maypole. This requires sneaking and distracting the guard.

Difficulty:

Prochek's quest is arguably slightly more challenging, especially early in the game. It may require more Groschen or a higher Speech skill to navigate dialogue checks. Olbram's quest might be easier to complete early on.

Quest Walkthroughs:

Mice (Prochek):

  • Start the Quest: Speak with Prochek in Tachov. He can usually be found at the inn.

  • Gather Supplies:

    • Dye: Purchase blue dye from Bartoshek the tailor in Troskowitz.
    • Lullaby Potion: Obtain the Lullaby Potion. You can either learn the recipe by working as Radovan's apprentice blacksmith in Tachov or persuade him to give you one (requires good speech). The recipe uses oil, poppy, and thistle. The herbs can be found in the garden outside the apothecary in Troskowitz.
  • Paint the Bull: In Zhelejov, pour the potion into the bull's trough.2 Once the bull is asleep, interact with it to begin painting.

  • Report Back: Return to Prochek to report your success. You can also then speak to Olbram to start the Frogs quest.3

Frogs (Olbram):

  • Start the Quest: Find Olbram in Zhelejov near the meadow and agree to steal the maypole.

  • Steal the Maypole:

    • Go to Tachov in the evening and approach the maypole.
    • Henrik is guarding it. You can either knock him out or use your speech to persuade him.
    • If persuading him, ask about Manka and offer to set up a secret date.
    • Speak to Manka at the inn about the date, then return to Henrik.
    • Once Henrik leaves, climb the maypole and chop it down.
  • Report Back: Return to Olbram. He will then ask you to chase the sheep out of the pasture in Tachov and give Alshik a digestive potion.4

  • The Choice: At this point, you can continue Olbram's questline or inform Prochek of Olbram's plans, effectively ending both questlines.

Which Path to Choose?

The best choice depends on your playstyle and preferences. If you prefer a more straightforward, action-oriented approach, Olbram's quest might be more appealing. If you enjoy crafting and utilizing your speech skills, Prochek's quest could be a better fit. Remember, you can experience most of both questlines before making a final decision.
