The mechanisms in each of the caverns are very similar. Next to the locked entrance is a map that shows you where to find three fireworks. You'll need to detonate them to open the gate.
Just north of Clearheart Lake is where you'll find Behind-the-Mountain Cavern. Traveling northwest towards the base of the hills from the Songbreeze Highland Foothills Warp Spire will bring you to it.
At some point, you'll see a stone slab beside the locked Cavern's gate. When you touch it, a map will appear, showing the Cavern you're in and the three spots where you can set off the fireworks to unlock the gate.

Behind-The-Mountain Cavern Firework Location in Infinity Nikki

Site #1 for Behind-The-Mountain Cavern Fireworks
Looking down on Warp Spire in Infinity from Fireworks Peak Observe the Firework by gliding eastward to the lower hill, Nikki. To proceed to the next one, activate it.
Second Firework Site Behind the Mountain Cavern
Cross the water and make your way southeast to Crescent Shoal Warp Spire. Reach one of the Relic Isles by stepping on the broken pillars and platforms. Activate the Firework by approaching it while wearing Infinity Nikki's Fiery Glow outfit, which grants the ability to do so.
Third Firework Site Behind the Mountain Cavern
Starting at Songbreeze Highland Foothills Warp Spire, head southeast into the forest. Be careful not to activate the Firework until you've defeated the enemies in Infinity Nikki; otherwise, you might find yourself surrounded by Esselings.
Go back to Behind-the-Mountain Cavern when you're done, and you'll see the gate unlocked. Come inside and take advantage of all the treasures you've found. While several of the chests may give you 5 diamonds, there's only one that gives you 30. The gate will only open a room with chests, therefore there's no way to go further than that, unlike in the Gloomy Cavern.
