How to Play Yunli in Honkai Star Rail
Yunli is definitely one of the more unique DPS characters in Honkai: Star Rail. Her two primary features that set her apart are her truly excellent counterattacking skills and surprisingly high self-sufficiency. Where most basic damage dealers simply do damage, Yunli's kit makes enemy aggression turn into some really awful power on offense. Her skills will maximize damage and guarantee survivability during the most trying times. This breakdown allows for a closer look at what makes her so special in this game.
- Basic Attack: This ability is focused on one enemy, inflicting physical damage whose strength scales on the attack power of Yunli.
- Skill: She has a skill which restores part of her health while she is inflicting a physical attack on a single target. But the attack does not just stop there; it reaches nearby enemies to inflict supplemental damage upon them. Due to its strength being based directly on her attack stat, this skill will grow in power as she does.
- Talent: Yunli is a powerful enemy with an extremely high defensive ability. Being attacked, she will shortly heal herself independently to 15 points in her energy bar. Following up on this sudden recovery, she will launch a counterattack instantly, dealing considerable AoE Physical Damage to her attacker and all other enemies within her vicinity. When there is no enemy within reach to fully enjoy her counterattack, she would instead be showering her assault on a randomly chosen opponent on the field, thus becoming an unpredictable threat to all opponents.
- Ultimate: Consumes 120 Energy: Enter parrying stance, which provokes all enemies until the end of the following ally's or enemy's turn. During this stance, the character's Talent's Counter effect shall be changed to "Intuit: Cull". An attack cancels Parry mode, or the character does "Intuit: Slash" on a random target. Both counterattacks deal Physical Damage to multiple enemies, though "Intuit: Cull" is much stronger and inflicts six times the damage.
Optimal Yunli Play
A well-built Yunli can be powerful enough to vanquish Honkai: Star Rail's most challenging content, including Memory of Chaos and Pure Fiction. Yunli gameplay is counterattack maximization; a bit of practice and players will have it on lock.
In doing so, maximize the damage output of Yunli by conserving essential buffs from your support characters in Ultimate building. Do not turn on her Ultimate immediately; rather, wait until your allies have done actions and all boosts are up. Then, trigger Yunli's Ultimate onto parry mode right when enemies are about to attack. In this way, you enable strong counterattacks at every enemy hit, which will inflict substantial damage. You can repeat the process to let Yunli unleash to the fullest during a battle.
