The Halo series is one of the most popular gaming franchises ever. However, in spite of this fact, Halo’s Esports community lags drastically behind when compared to other games/game franchises of a similar calibre. This is incredibly strange - why would one of the most infamous game franchises in the world have a relatively lacklustre Esports following?
Well, there are actually a variety of reasons as to why Halo has struggled to maintain its Esports presence, and we are going to be telling you everything you need to know surrounding this topic in this article.
A Franchise That Has Been Undernourished
While the Halo series has always been seen as the Magnum Opus of Xbox and has usually been treated with the utmost respect, it seems as though there was a shift in how this title was seen in recent years. Halo was the king of all games in times past - it was one of the biggest franchises to ever hit the markets.
I mean, just take a look at any of the previous Halo games - they were all hugely popular, and most thought Halo was just going to be a staple in the gaming industry forever. However, as you may know by now, this just didn't turn out to be the case.
The quality of Halo games began to deteriorate rapidly after just a few entries, and the public’s perception of Halo decreased in near direct correlation with the aforementioned quality drop.
You wouldn't find many people paying attention to a sport on a website like the Profit Squad platform (www.profitsquad.com/new-jersey/sports-betting/) if said sport happened to be extremely boring - why would the Halo franchise be any different? Halo has been drastically undernourished in recent years, and interest in this franchise is now at an all-time low.
The Latest Iteration In The Series Is Widely Regarded as a Failure
It is not uncommon to come across an article with headlines along the lines of “Halo infinite is dead”. You may have even come across one of these yourself - you would not have to look very far.
While Halo infinite certainly has its positive points, the severe lack of content has pretty much grinded the game to a halt, and any hype surrounding it has now gone away completely. More and more people stop playing Halo Infinite every single day, and whichever way you look at it, this just means that there are fewer people to bolster its Esports presence.
Well, there you have it folks - you now know why Halo does not have as big of an Esports presence as other titles. Unless Bungie has some plans in the works to reinvigorate Halo Infinite or is working on an even bigger Halo project for the future, it is likely that Halo’s underwhelming Esports presence is going to continue indefinitely, and we might not ever get the chance to see what an Esports scene dominated by Halo looks like. See you next time.
