Knowing how to navigate the fields of mourning in Hades 2 is a necessary task, and The Fields of Misery changes the typical Hades navigation style by offering large, open areas to explore where we would otherwise get completely lost. The Fields of Sorrow or Pain Fields, depending on who you ask, don't follow the typical set of rules for exploring Hell. Instead of offering us two paths to an encounter at each location, the doors can offer up to three options. Locations can include up to three encounters, usually taking place in a large open space filled with mobs and free tracking upgrades.

How to navigate the fields of mourning in Hades 2?

The Fields of Pain is the third area of Hades 2 that appears after completing Ocean, we will find ourselves in a gloomy field with dead grass and flowing wheat. Ruins of stone walls adorn the area, as well as still-lit candles and vine-covered statues. These areas are usually surrounded by red shadows around us. To begin our journey through the countryside, we will go up or "north" from where we left off. Soon we will find a yellow tree without leaves, which will give us two improvement options. Each location in Fields of Sorrow usually has upgrades tied to seals on the ground. It is possible to explore the area and choose which one to open first, but we must keep in mind that there are enemies roaming the fields that we can ignore or fight. Items and power-ups include the usual array of divine blessings, hammer, pompom, Daedalus gold coins, and more. Opening the item will cause enemies to appear and initiate combat.
Defeating all enemies that appear will end the fight. We must take this into account if we have location-specific upgrades or blessings, such as Memory or Chaos Blessing. Instead of choosing the next door, we will stay on the field until we get all the remaining upgrades. Smaller upgrades and items can be found in open areas, but they are often guarded by hostile mobs. Some items may contain centaur hearts or gold coins. However, they're not sealed, so we'll run out to find them before the bad guys notice.These sectors pose environmental hazards that must be addressed. Openings in the ground often create a vibrant red cloud that slows and temporarily disables Melinoe. They can also appear during the battle with the Guardian. Touching the thorny bush can cause damage.

How to activate the Golden Bough in the Mourning Fields in Hades 2?

After accessing an open area in Fields of Sorrow, Melinoe it is possible to mention the following pieces of gold on the ground. This will take us to the Golden Branch, a tree somewhere nearby. Activating the plant will make it glow brightly and then send beams of light to any nearby power-ups, we'll see them briefly appear as icons on the HUD, making them easier to follow without having to wander around the room. We will not be able to activate the Golden Branch during our first trip to the Field. Instead, we will look for myrtle, the white flower of the Fields of Sorrow.

Then we return to the Crossroads and examine the Cauldron for the spell. If the spell is unlocked, it will be labeled "Sad Shell Rebirth" with a golden branch symbol. It only costs one Myrtle, so we'll have to unlock it now. Next time we return to Fields of Sorrow, we'll follow the gold pieces to a tree we can activate. The only caveat with Golden Bough is that it shows all the items in one place, but only for a short time. When the icons disappear from the HUD, they disappear forever, there is no possibility to reactivate the tree more than once.

By exploring Fields of Sorrow, we are allowed to collect many resources. Myrtle is a flower that can be picked by hand, but others require special tools. Below is a list of plants, seeds and reagents that we can well in the area:

Myrtle: a white flower that can be hand-picked.
Wheat: We discovered it during excavations using the Silver Shovel tool.
Mint: We can obtain it from Lost Shadows using the World Board tool.
Rock Crystal: We can collect it from the Glassrock Ore Mines using the Crescent Pick tool.
Tears: A rare reagent received as a reward for defeating the Guardian of the Fields of Sorrows.

All mini-boss encounters in Fields of Sorrow.

As we explore the area, we may encounter two mini-bosses. First there is Queen Lamia, who usually attacks us along with other llamas that attack us with lightning. Killing the queen will defeat them all. There is also a rare mini-boss named Ghost. This creature looks like a vampire and has a large amount of blood. Both bosses will give us a reward for winning.
