Where to Find Red Soldier Ant Eggs in Grounded 2

In Grounded 2, the Red Soldier Ant Egg is a crucial early-game item that allows you to hatch your very first mount, or "Buggy." These eggs are rare and are found in one of the game's most dangerous early zones. This guide will walk you through the process of locating, surviving, and safely returning with a Red Soldier Ant Egg.

Grounded 2: Soldier Ant Egg Location

Red Soldier Ant Eggs are significantly larger and rarer than the common Red Worker Ant eggs you may encounter. They are located deep within the Hatchery Anthill, a dangerous dungeon with multiple entrances.

• Locating the Hatchery Anthill: The Hatchery Anthill has at least two main entry points, one near the Snackbar Front and another in the south. The "Egg Hunt" quest will provide a waypoint to guide you to an entrance, which is usually in the southeast of the starting area.
• Navigating the Tunnels: Once inside, the tunnels can be a confusing labyrinth. A good rule of thumb is to follow the cables along the floor and ceiling.
  • From the southern entrance, you'll go down a slope to an abandoned ranger area. Turn left and follow the cable.
  • Keep following the cable past a ladder and a large battery, then stick to the tunnel on the right.
• Finding the Eggs: Eventually, you will arrive at a damaged lab area. Move through this lab to find a cart or table with several Red Soldier Ant Eggs on it. Each player can grab one to take back to their base. Once you have an egg, retrace your steps to exit the anthill.

Surviving the Hatchery Anthill

The Hatchery Anthill is a high-risk zone, and you must be prepared for what you'll encounter.

• Aggressive Enemies: The anthill is filled with aggressive Red Soldier Ants that will attack on sight. Even worse, an O.R.C. Orb Weaver Spideroften lurks nearby, distinguished by a bright purple flashing light onits head.
• Carrying the Egg: The real challengebegins once you pick up an egg. It's a large, bulky item that requiresboth hands to carry, leaving you unable to use a two-handed weapon.Carrying an egg also makes all nearby ants aggressive towards you.
• Preparation and Strategy: Before you enter the anthill, it is highly recommended to:
  • Equip a good one-handed weapon and a torch to light your way.
  • Wear solid armor like the full Acorn armor set.
  • Bring plenty of healing items, such as Fiber Bandages.
  • Be ready to drop the egg if you are forced into combat. You can always pick it back up once thethreat is neutralized. Some players have found success in using theautomatic doors of the Ranger Station to kite the Orb Weaver Spider andattack it from a safe distance with a bow and arrows.
