Much has been rumored a possible sequel to Dragon's Dogma, but so far there has been good news about it. However, Capcom has not left aside the franchise, it has just announced that Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen (DDDA) will debut on a new platform, on Nintendo Switch. He will do so on April 23, more than a year after his departure on the consoles of the competition and at a recommended price of $ 29.99.

A dragon with long wings and fearsome jaws observes its enemy, despises it as insignificant. The human has raised his arms against him, but does he have any chance against his impenetrable scales? No, of course not. In a fit, the dragon rips his heart. However, contrary to what might be expected, the human does not die, he becomes a chosen one, an Arisen. From then on, the main mission of the protagonist will be to finish at all costs against the dragon and destroy his reign of terror, which inevitably leads to the apocalypse.
Dragon's Dogma original went on sale on PS3 and Xbox 360. Five years after its launch, in 2017, Dark Arisen returned as a port with news for the new generation of machines. In this way, improvements were included in the personalization of the protagonist, new enemies, difficult mode, time trial, etc. In addition, the studio also added a new playground, the Island of Bitterblack, which allows us to delve into the history.

Capcom starts the year with a very juicy agenda of quality titles. On January 25 the expected remake of Resident Evil 2 will arrive in stores, whose main adventure has been reimagined, although it will not see the light on Nintendo Switch. Yes, other products of the franchise will do, such as the HD remakes of Resident Evil and Resident Evil Zero, as well as the fourth installment. On the other hand, on March 15, Dante will return to PS4, Xbox One and PC with Devil May Cry 5. We remind that the game will feature a new demo in February.

Analysis Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen for PS4 and XBOX ONE

After its PC version, Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen comes to Playstation 4 and XBOX ONE. The ARPG of Capcom that has already turned five years old, returns with graphic improvements and all its content for the new generation consoles. Will we get to our destination as Arisen?

After a year full of great titles which seems to give no more than itself, Capcom decides to bring a forgotten jewel of the past generation to PlayStation 4 and XBOX ONE, which will add an interesting alternative to choose within the framework of this year's titles; Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen. In Meristation we analyzed it at the time, as well as its port to PC. Today we bring the fundamental aspects, somewhat improvable, that differentiate this remastering for PlayStation 4 and XBOX ONE from their previous versions.

To put in situation, Dragon's Dogma left for Playstation 3 and XBOX 360 five years ago. Capcom had invested in a new Action RPG cutting IP adapted to a Western audience. Many were those who compared it with titles like Skyrim or Dark Souls. However, Dragons Dogma knew how to make a hole thanks to the aspects that set him apart from the rest.

His combat system offered variety and alternatives (and sometimes reminded us of Shadow of the Colossus). The invocation of pawns as NPC's allies that helped us along our journey, the classes and personalization, the music, the beasts, the difficulty ... A wide catalog of pros that improved with the arrival of their first and for now only expansion that It polished some flaws and extended the gaming experience. With new zones and missions (as well as more configurations, enemies and equipment), the Dark Arisen DLC finished what Dragons Dogma began.

With the port of PC and a bit of delay, Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen has come to Playstation 4 and XBOX ONE with improvements in both the resolution and the refresh rate, but no novelties in the aspect of textures or effects within the game . A useful remastering that could have given more than itself to improve the gaming experience in new consoles.

The main story tells us about the chosen Arisen whose main mission is to finish off a powerful dragon that took away his heart at the beginning of the game. A simple way to explain without much explanation the initial synopsis of the game, which will be developed as we explore the vast world that offers us.

For starters, DDDA includes an improvement in the personalization of the protagonist. After that we can choose our initial vocation (warrior, stryder or magician) that as we progress in the game, we can change by advanced and combined vocations. With it we will also have to change our team and our Pawns, who will not level up like us.

The Pawns are non-human NPCs with human appearance that inhabit between worlds and that will help us throughout the adventure as allies (which is highly recommended). With a maximum of 3 (one of them created by you), we can invoke these beings through some faults offline and online. Making use of their different classes and balancing the team (where it is recommended that there is variety) will give us more experience and objects with which we can level up and improve our team to advance the development of the game. Necessary will be with its difficulty, which will keep us firm in a constant challenge for not dying based on skill and combinations of attacks. For those who find this difficulty not enough, the version also has a difficult mode and a time trial mode, which will increase the demand of the game for the player, making the experience even more intense.

Also note that in addition to new enemies, equipment and character options, the game adds a new area known as the Island of Bitterblack, where the player can go when he has enough level. This extensive location will have an incentive of the main plot, which will delve into the history of the title and provide us with even more hours of entertainment. In addition, the dark tint that the new zone brings improves adding repertoire of areas in the game as well as certain reminiscences to memorable ambiences of the Demon's Souls or Dark Souls.

A GRAPHICAL QUALITY "IMPROVABLE"

The world of DDDA will be enriched by the graphic improvement that this new version has. With a plausible increase, although not much greater in the resolution of the title, we can see things more clearly and improve the immersion capacity we can have with the title. It is true that they could have improved the general textures of the game, as well as its main modeling, animations or effects within the game so that a qualitative leap can be observed in the new generation of consoles with Playstation 4 or XBOX ONE. Otherwise, you can enjoy without any problem and, although it is not a graphic portent, it is recommended both for those who have played and want to give a touch, and for those who have not tried it and are fans of the genre.

A more stable game system

If something stands out in the Dragon's Dogma and makes it different from other titles, it's its combat mechanics. According to our vocation and that of our pawns, we can make different skills in different parts of the enemy. These combine with each other to add a spectacular movement that we have rarely seen in other games of the genre. From climbing the beast and attacking, to throwing immense powers or a rain of arrows; The combinations are immense. Apart from this, fire acquires a relevant role in the environment of DDDA, and many times we will have to use the torch or the fire powers to recognize the environment and the enemies.

A spectacular and a fire that does not suffer at 30 FPS that maintains, at least, this version. A stability that helps to take the fight correctly, without boring framerate drops that make the game more tedious. There is no point of comparison with the greater stability that the PC version could offer, but it is a slight limitation that is understandable, although it could be better.

It should also be borne in mind that this stability improves the entry into the scene of the pawns in combat, who often use staples or combinations that increase the load of polygons in the image. In spite of that, the frame rate will not fall below 30, and this fact will completely renew the combat game experience, which is one of the main bastions of the game.
