Deciphering Rift Gate coordinates is a new challenge that Epic Games added to the game in Chapter 4, Season 1 of Fortnite. The task requires you to meet with the Rift Warden Stellan, locate a laptop, and complete various tasks in order to progress and unlock rewards. 


Benefits of completing the challenge include 40,000 XP towards your Battle Pass level, 10,000 XP for each Cipher challenge completed, and a new crossover questline featuring a special style for Geralt of Rivia from the popular series The Witcher. 

Meeting Rift Warden Stellan


The first step in the questline is to meet Rift Warden Stellan at the Battle Pass Hub. He will give you the coordinates of the Rift Gate and will give you directions to the snowy area located on the map. 

  • Location of the Map’s Snowy Region: The snowy region of the map is located in the northern half of the map, between the river and the mountain range. To find it, look for the snow-covered trees and a large, snowy mountain.
  • Starting the Questline: Once you’ve located the snowy region, you can start the questline by talking to Stellan. He will give you a quest to locate the laptop, which is required to decipher the coordinates of the Rift Gates.

Locating the Laptop


The laptop is located near a broken clocktower and gray crates in the snowy region of the map. To find it, look for a large, gray building with a broken clocktower in the center. The laptop is located near this building.

  • Directions to the Cold Cavern Landmark: Once you’ve located the laptop, you can use it to get directions to the Cold Cavern landmark. To do this, look for the Cold Cavern landmark icon on the map. It is located in the same area as the laptop.

Completing the Challenge 


In order to progress and complete the challenge, you'll need to eliminate three players in the game. Doing so will both save your progress and reward you with some sweet XP.
