How to get the Firework Flare Gun in Fortnite Chapter 5, season 4
You can acquire the Firework Flare Gun in Fortnite by unwrapping Birthday Presents and chests, and collecting floor loot or supply drops. Sure, it might turn up through all those means, but I have mostly found the Firework Flare Gun as loot in floors and chests.
According to an Epic Games blog, the Firework Flare Gun sometimes pops up in gifts alongside the Birthday Medallion. Birthday Presents are very rare, though, and there's no guarantee the Firework Flare Gun is inside. This makes this method unreliable in general. To find a Birthday Present in the game, if you so desire, look around while you're navigating on the map as they might be hidden inside chests, lying on the floor, dropped from falling supply crates, and acquired via other forms of loot.
The easiest way to find this weapon is by landing at a point of interest full of chests that you can unlock. Some of the places included are Reckless Railways, Sandy Steppes, Castle Doom, and The Underworld.
To increase your chances of success, you probably wish to visit a location that was featured in a past season, because not too many players will likely venture there. That is unless you try out Mount Olympus, Brutal Beachhead, and Brawler's Battleground. If not, well, be prepared for a fight.
As you're navigating around the map, opening chests for new items, don't neglect looking at the ground. Because it's a rare weapon, it will glow blue, so if any time you see something blue, walk toward it to see if it's the Firework Flare Gun. I have found this gun many times, and it's almost always found from a distance by looking at the floor loot.
Using the Firework Flare Gun
It functions just like a regular firearm, with one special power when fired: all enemies within 50 meters will be tagged for one minute. This can be used to damage the enemy, unveil any hidden enemies in the vicinity, and burn any wooden structures and objects touching the ground.
This works in a similar way to Emma Frost's Medallion, or that of hireable NPCs like Artemis. It sends a grid-like pattern across the immediate map area; also, a red diamond appears over any enemies that might be in the area for a very short time. The difference is the fact that with it, you get only six shots, because the gun itself counts as a consumable item, and right after, it disappears from your inventory.
Complete the birthday challenge associated with the Firework Flare Gun, since you already own it. You will need to reveal players by firing fireworks from the Firework Flare Gun. Just aim and fire when you think players are in the vicinity. Don't forget to also wish a happy birthday to the Bus Driver for continuation in unlocking all the birthday rewards.
