Once you've found a Rift Beacon, it will be a matter of interaction to turn it on, which can be a matter of a simple interaction but may also involve approaching the beacon from a specific angle or solving a small puzzle.
First, activate the Rift Beacon, and it will emit a strong, powerful field of energy. After that, you would like to access the beacon again to configure it. You may select one of the options or finish a short mini-game in this case.
Finally, after you have configured the Rift Beacon, you have solved the challenge. You can now work your way through solving the remaining other challenges in order to be able to unlock Magneto.

How to configure Rift Beacons in Fortnite?
The sudden integration of the Rift Beacons into Fortnite has set tongues wagging in the gaming community, always ready with theories and speculations. These tall structures, which come with a resemblance to the solar panels introduced in Chapter Two, Season Four, have a deep connection with one Tony Stark, a.k.a. Iron Man. This has been courting speculation among gamers and even suggesting a revisit into the Marvel universe.
The Rift Beacons are placed around the map at strategic locations and can be turned on when approached and interacted with. While their only function now is largely to do with a Magneto-related quest, their inclusion suggests a far greater purpose in the future of the game. That they came in the same update as Metallica back on June 13th only helped cement the connection with the Marvel universe, given the plethora of Marvel-themed events and collaborations that have often used Metallica's music.
The Rift Beacons give an exciting glimpse into what the future may hold for Fortnite, and their design elements echo those used by Tony Stark. Their reveal came with a Marvel-themed questline, further solidifying that this is Epic Games continuing to set the stage for a possible return to Marvel-themed seasons in the future. That means the more players explore the island and reveal what is shrouded in mystery about the Rift Beacons, the more anticipation day in and day out for a Marvel-inspired season gets a lot stronger.
In summary, three Rift Beacons are scattered across the Fortnite map, which you will have to find to complete the Magneto quest.
- The first Rift Beacon is located on a cliff overlooking the Sandy Steppes, just north of Hope's house. You might as well talk to Hope while you're in the area and get started on the "Welcome to the Wasteland" quest.
- The second Rift Beacon sits atop a mountain to the north of The Underworld. This climb can be a bit tedious, so I recommend using Nitro Fists, Megalo Don's Nitro Fists, or a Mythic vehicle for an easier ascent.
- The third Rift Beacon sits on a mountain overlooking the small hotel near Grand Glacier.
With the distance between the Rift Beacons being rather massive, completion of this quest in one game would therefore require a vehicle that is modded for speed and quick travel to avoid encounters.
Once all three Rift Beacons are activated, players will be rewarded with the Magneto wrap and partial completion toward the regular Magneto style. To fully complete the questline, though, Magneto's Gauntlets will also have to be acquired and the Weapon X Lab visited.
