The fish in Fields of Mistria cast varying sized shadows on the water. To complete the museum's Fish Wing, you'll need to cast your line on each shadow. Alligator gar, a fish that only appears in the winter, can be caught by targeting one of the bigger shadows. A fish's rarity is determined by the size of its shadow, yet the size of its shadow has no bearing on how difficult it is to capture. Alligator Gar Conditions for Catching
Pond fishes are home to the Alligator Gar. It is on The Eastern Road, just past Mistria on the right. In the bottom half of the Eastern Road, there are three ponds where you can find the Alligator Gar. Keep in mind that the Alligator Gar casts a massive shadow and is a fish that lives in the winter. During various seasons, you will encounter different fish when attempting to catch enormous shadows. Also, diving won't net you any Alligator Gar.
Fishing in the deep shadows of winter ponds increases the odds of catching giant tilapia. In such a case, simply vacate the area and come back to "refresh" the fish. Due of the rarity of the Alligator Gar, you may need to cast several times before you reel one in.
If you want to increase your casting range, then the Silver Fishing Rod is a must. When fishing with a standard pole, the enormous fish has a habit of migrating to the middle of the pond. The Alligator Gar's likelihood of swimming to the bobber can be enhanced by acquiring perks at the statue of Caldarus. The following are a few suggested benefits:
