In the Fallout Shelter 1.8 update, Bethesda introduced a feature that allows players to create and use themes to customize their vaults. These themes can be created in the Theme Workshop and then applied to specific rooms in the Vault. It is worth noting that these themes are for aesthetic purposes only and do not affect gameplay. However, they offer the opportunity to visually diversify the vault, which may have become repetitive since the game's initial release. If you want to learn how to use themes, read important details and instructions below.
To create a themed workshop in Fallout Shelter, a minimum of 42 Vault inhabitants is required. Once unlocked, it will cost 3200 caps to build and you can assign 6 workers to it. The type of workers you assign to your workshop will depend on the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. statistics needed for the theme being created. By upgrading your theme workshop to level 3, you can significantly reduce theme creation time. Here is the cost of both upgrades:

How to Use Themes in Fallout Shelter?

How many themes are there in Fallout Shelter?
There are currently six unique themes and each theme has a dining room and living room option, for a total of twelve themed recipes that can be created in the Theme Workshop. These motifs can be used in a fully integrated dining room or living room, which means that all three rooms must be connected. Additionally, you will need to completely update these rooms to use the newly created theme. However, after unlocking and creating a workshop theme, you will not be able to create any theme you want. Instead, you must collect theme fragments by completing quests in the Overseer's Office, such as obtaining power armor for your residents or using Quantum Nuka Cola to unlock the ability to create a specific theme. You can still collect theme snippets even if your repository doesn't have a built-in theme workshop. If you don't have enough vignette pieces to create a vignette or you have already created the pieces you need, you can destroy them to save energy for other important rooms. Here are twelve themed recipes you can unlock:

Once all twelve topics have been created, information about the topic will be disabled. However, the patterns created can be used in any number of dining and living rooms. This is a strategic advantage when it is decided to change the layout of the warehouse by demolishing the existing rooms. However, keep in mind that you still need to fully merge and upgrade the building to change its theme.
