The Duke’s Dear Freja presents a balanced challenge for both ranged and melee combatants. For close-range Nightfarers, the boss employs attacks with its multiple legs and snapping pincers. Simultaneously, its continuous spawning of spiderlings and various projectile attacks can complicate the strategy for ranged characters like Ironeye and mages who prefer to maintain distance. Given its significant bulk and somewhat telegraphed, slow attacks, any team composition can be equally effective against Duke's Dear Freja. However, reaching at least level 6 before engaging this boss will significantly boost your chances of survival.

Weaknesses of Duke’s Dear Freja

The Duke’s Dear Freja's primary exploitable weaknesses lie in its large size and slow attack animations.

• Elemental and Status Weaknesses: Fire, frost, and bleed weapons are particularly effective against this boss, making them strong choices for your loadout.
• Targeting Weak Spots: The boss has two heads, one on each end of its body. Targeting either of these heads will result in additional damage, accelerating the fight. When all players focus their attacks on one of these weak spots simultaneously, the boss can be staggered quickly, creating vital openings for critical hits.
• Melee Positioning: Melee combatants should strive to stay near either of the heads, continuously attacking the weak spot. This positioning helps keep them out of range of the boss's leg slam attacks and provides ample warning to dodge before its special attacks are unleashed.

Tips To Easily Defeat Duke’s Dear Freja

Successfully defeating Duke’s Dear Freja requires strategic positioning, awareness of its attack patterns, andeffective management of its summoned allies.

Manage Spiderlings: The constant spawning of spiderlings can become a significant nuisance if not addressed.

• As a melee fighter, try to group the spiderlings up while simultaneously attacking the main boss. This allows you toeliminate multiple spiderlings at once with area-of-effect (AoE) attacks or well-placed swings.
• Ranged fighters should prioritize taking out spiderlings that pose an immediate threat or are too close to their position.

Learn Attack Telegraphs: Most of the Duke’s Dear Freja's attacks are clearly telegraphed. Close observation of her movements during the fight will allow you to predict and dodge most of her incoming damage.

Web-Spitting Attack: When the boss rears its head and begins to unleash a web-spitting attack:

• If you are near her head, simply step to the side to avoid the stream.
• Ranged fighters can either sprint away from the web stream’s trajectory or roll through it with precise timing.

Leaping Attack: When Duke’s Dear Freja lowers its body and tenses its legs, it is preparing for a leap into the air.

• She can either slam down onto the players to deal damage, or leap away to create distance, resetting the engagement range. Be ready to dodge or adjust your position accordingly.

Acid Spit Attack: When the boss rears up and both its heads begin to spit acid in a wide arc:

• Dodge to the side of the spider’s body. This attack persists for a few seconds, so continue to evade until the acid stream ceases.

Lunging Attack: When Duke’s Dear Freja pulls its head back and opens its mandibles, it is preparing for a lunging attack.

• Sprint away from the head to the side of the body, or execute a well-timed roll at the very last second to avoid damage.
