One of the best jobs in Dragon Quest 3 Remake is that of the Sage. Although our hero cannot become a Sage, any other member of the party can to access the spells and powers of the Priest and of the Mage. Getting a job through Patty's Party Planning Place is far easier than becoming a Sage, however. You can get a Sage in Dragon Quest 3 Remake by two different ways, and this walkthrough will discuss both of them.
As explained earlier, there are two ways to change a party member into a Sage in Dragon Quest 3 Remake. Both ways will give Sages capable of learning the same spells and skills, but one will yield a Sage with much, much better characteristics. The two ways are as described below:
These latter two techniques both require Alltrades Abbey, and the second requires the Tower of Transcendence, as well. All three of these locations are easily reached by heading north from Baharata. The exact route is available in the video, and on the map, below.
The Gadabout approach is a bit more intuitive, so we'll start with that. Even though this is easier, the Sage you'll result with will be statistically inferior.
If you start with a Gadabout or replace one of your current party members at Alltrades Abbey, you can build a Sage this way.
Start with a Gadabout for speed, but you can level up a Thief, Monster Wrangler, or even a Priest for a more interesting Sage. Priest is actually the statistically best starting occupation for creating a Sage. Your spells and skills acquired in one occupation will carry over to the other. The abilities and spells of a Sage that is also a Thief or a Monster Wrangler are priceless. However, in the case of urgency for a Sage, the best place to begin is with your party's Gadabout.
To change a party member's profession, one must raise a Gadabout to Level 20, which, again, can be done once they are in your party. The only area the Sage at Alltrades Abbey is directly accessible to is by the Gadabout. In the case of a profession change, the Sage will drop back to level one, though at half stats. Spells and abilities will start unlocking for both Mage and Priest.
How to use Words of Wisdom approach: Reading the Words of Wisdom book is one way to level up to Sage in the game Dragon Quest 3 Remake. With this special book called Words of Wisdom, any party member can immediately become a Sage and remain as a Sage for eternity.
Compared with other books in Dragon Quest 3 Remake, Words of Wisdom has another function. To use it, after adding it to your inventory, simply just visit Alltrades Abbey. One of the professions you can now switch to is Sage. For this reason, you cannot change to Sage until your character reaches level 20.
The Words of Wisdom can be located due north of the Alltrades Abbey, in the Tower of Transcendence. We won't be discussing the book much more now, since it's somewhat of a pain to find.
It is often suggested that a Priest be used as the base vocation when using the Words of Wisdom tactic. Using a Priest will make you the strongest Sage once you class change, but you'll be learning a Priest's spells and abilities as a Sage.
Words of Wisdom is by far the best reward one can get in the Tower of Transcendence. To reach the tower, go northeast of Alltrades Abbey. When you move around the overworld, it's very difficult to miss the sight of it. It certainly is a very breathtaking tower from afar. Refer to our detailed guide on changing your profession in Dragon Quest 3 Remake and finding Alltrades Abbey.
Words of Wisdom Directions: Once at the Tower of Transcendence, travel inward with the complex on the main road. Once under the arches to the north, make your first left. Remain on the north side of the warp portal and, as you arrive in the area before the first, head in a western direction. Proceed straight through to the next arch and hang a right.
Go down the staircase to the left after turning right under the arch. There is a tightrope running east atop the staircase, fall down after crossing it. Another warp protocell will present itself, take the portal.
East across the room, past the portal exit, you will see three sets of stairs. Head toward the middle staircase. Both the north and south walls of the room have stairs up to the highest level. Head toward the southern wall and take the steps. A small room containing a treasure chest is between several flights of stairs. Continue up the stairs.
Again, some big flight of stairs greet you at the top. Keep going up. There is another tightrope waiting for you, on the west side of this top room. You can get to the flag by balancing across the rope. Fall off facing the camera. The next thing you know, you are on a rooftop. Head west until you fall into the void of the roof. Once you are inside, find the stairwell heading down to the lower level.
Entering the basement chamber, go east down the short flight of stairs. There is a treasure box here that contains some Words of Wisdom.
