Digivolution requirements, key early-game locations in the Digital World and Shinjuku, and the best strategies to

ADAMAS agent.
Digimon Story Time Stranger: How to Get Veemon
When to Begin Your Veemon Recruitment Quest
The first opportunities to recruit the In-Training Digimon you need for the Veemon line open up shortly after a significant early-game milestone:the main storyline battle against MetalGreymon (Virus).
This pivotal fight typically occurs about an hour or two into the game, depending on how much time you dedicate to exploring the initial Shinjuku and Digital World regions. Once MetalGreymon is defeated and the narrative progressespast this early crisis point, the spawn tables for wild Digimon inolder, previously explored areas are updated. This is when the crucialfirst-stage In-Training Digimon, Punimon, begins to appear, signaling the start of your quest.
Step 1: Secure Your Punimon Data
To secure Veemon, you must first secure its baby form, Punimon.
Where to Find Punimon
After the MetalGreymon event, you should backtrack through the regions you first explored. The areas around the initial grassland and digital forest regions in the Digital World are where Punimon—a charming, red, blob-like Digimon—will start spawning in random encounters.
The 200% Scanning Advantage
When you encounter Punimon in battle, you need to collect its data. Whilethe minimum requirement to officially recruit any Digimon via the Convert function in the DigiLab is 100% Data, savvy players know to push for more.
To give your future Veemon the best possible start, you should aim to collect 200% Punimon Data or more before using the Convert function. Digimon converted at 200% data aresignificantly stronger, boasting a substantial bonus to their basestats. These stat bonuses, often referred to as "cumulative stats" in the community, will dramatically accelerate the process of meetingthe higher stat requirements for subsequent Digivolutions, includingVeemon's.
If you are playing the early-access or demo version of Time Stranger, note that Punimon may appear right before the narrative cutoff, so your chances to raise it might be limited. Make every encounter count!
Step 2: Digivolve Punimon into Tsunomon
Once Punimon is successfully converted and added to your roster, it’s timefor its first transformation into the In-Training II Digimon, Tsunomon.
This first stage of Digivolution is designed to be straightforward andrequires minimal effort, making it a perfect example of the game’saccessible evolution mechanics.
Tsunomon Digivolution Requirement:
- Level: Punimon will typically be ready to evolve around Level 9. Simply take it into a few battles in the early-game areas to gain the necessary experience points.
The Evolution Process:
Open your Digivice menu.Select the Digivolve option.Provided Punimon has met the level requirement, Tsunomon’s silhouette will appear in green, indicating the evolution is available.Select Tsunomon, confirm the process, and your now-evolved Tsunomon is ready to be trained for its ultimate Rookie-level goal.Step 3: Train Tsunomon into the Mighty Veemon
Tsunomon has several potential Champion-level paths, but to unlock thefan-favorite Veemon, you will need to focus on two specific statmilestones. This stage of the process requires dedicated effort in stat training and experience grinding.
You can expedite this process significantly by utilizing the Load Enhancement function within the DigiLab, which allows you to recycle unwanted orduplicate Digimon data to give direct experience points to Tsunomon. This is a crucial quality-of-life feature for players who want to build a powerhouse team fast.
Veemon Digivolution Requirements
| Requirement | Value | Notes |
| ATK (Attack) | 280 or higher | Prioritize equipment and training sets that boost physical strength. |
| SPD (Speed) | 170 or higher | Focus on Agility-boosting training to hit this second, slightly lower threshold. |
| Agent Rank | 1 | This is the default starting rank; no further progress is required to unlock Veemon. |
Hitting the Stat Targets with Cumulative Stats
The ability to De-Digivolve is a master strategy in Digimon Story: Time Stranger. Each time a Digimon Digivolves or De-Digivolves, it retains a percentage of its stats, contributing to the cumulative stats that are the blue numbers in parentheses next to the main stats. Byrepeatedly Digivolving and then De-Digivolving (once available), you can rapidly build up these blue stats, making it far easier to meet thedemanding thresholds for high-tier Digimon like Veemon.
Once your Tsunomon has met the ATK: 280 and SPD: 170 requirements, bring up the Digivolution menu one last time. Veemon’s shadow should now appear as a potential evolution (also indicated by a green silhouette). Select it to finalize theprocess and officially welcome the beloved blue dragon to your team.
Why Veemon is a Must-Have Early-Game Asset
Recruiting Veemon so early in Digimon Story: Time Stranger is highly advantageous.
As a Vaccine-type Rookie, Veemon is perfectly positioned to dominate the numerous Virus-type enemies found in the early and mid-game, easily exploiting the Attribute Triangle (Vaccine > Virus > Data > Vaccine). Its balanced stats and access to the iconic Vee Headbutt attack provide reliable physical damage, helping you breeze throughinitial story encounters and side missions. Furthermore, securing Veemon opens up the door to incredibly powerful Champion, Ultimate, and Megaforms, including the formidable Imperialdramon line, ensuring that your initial investment in this nostalgic partner pays dividends throughout your entire 40+ hour adventure.
Don’t delay—get out there, scan that Punimon data, and add the heart of the Digimon Adventure 02 crew to your team today!
