We invite you to discover what Best McGinnis build in Deadlock is with our detailed guide today.

McGinnis is the resident machinery expert in Deadlock, and with her skills, you'll soon own the streets of The Cursed Apple. In this guide, we will delve into the analysis of her abilities, together with the overview of her best items selection and skill build.

The abilities of McGinnis make her a versatile and strong character. Her passive, Mini Turret, summons a turret that doesn't just create damage but also prioritizes other heroes first. Her Q, Medicinal Specter, heals all allies within its AoE. Her W, Spectral Wall, creates a wide wall inflicting damage and slowing enemies hit by it. Lastly, her E, Heavy Barrage, unleashes pure spiritual energy as it launches salvos of missiles at a certain area.

When you build McGinnis, think about her playstyle and what your team needs. She does really well with her Active Reload item, which increases reload speed, and Healing Rite that heals her and nearby allies. Other goodies include the Spectral Wall Upgrade item, which buffs both the damage and slow of her Spectral Wall ability; the Heavy Barrage Upgrade item which increases the damage and extends the range of said Heavy Barrage ability.

McGinnis Abilities

McGinnis is Deadlock's chief engineer who does it all, supports her team with a variety of abilities. She summons turrets, heals her teammates with ghostly vials, and deploys "blocking walls to disrupt adversaries.".

Her Mini Turret is an active sidekick in combat that auto-targets the enemies and harasses other heroes. This constant fire can pose a considerable amount of damage to enemy formations, especially if coupled with McGinnis's other skills. The Medicinal Specter keeps allies within an area of effect with much-needed restorative treatment to keep them in the battle. This is really effective in the heat of a team fight or the holding of some key point.

The Spectral Wall controls the battlefield, damaging and slowing enemies that cross it. This can block chokepoints to deny the enemy advance or clear passage for allies. It is only crucial how well the timing of the deployment of the wall is.

McGinnis is capable of unleashing Heavy Barrage, a more aggressive and powerful attack that rains volleys of rockets down on a targeted area. She can adjust the location of the target with the ability while it is charging but is otherwise unable to fire her weapon or use any other abilities. This makes the Heavy Barrage a risky but potentially rewarding move. It serves to clear out groups of enemies, destroy key objectives, or even turn the tide of a battle.

His main attack is the heavy machine gun. Although this heavy machine gun can inflict serious damage if continuously fired, it only has a small rate of fire and rather small magazine capacity, thus quite difficult to use in the early stages of the game. This the player will need to compensate with the enhancement of McGinnis through movement speed and weapon capacity via upgrades, equipment, or strategic play.

She can be of great use in any Deadlock team by using her set of skills and resources to effectively reinforce her allies and destroy all enemy forces in her way. She is a flexible enforcer, after all.

McGinnis Best Build in Deadlock

Early Game

Securing turrets, Medicinal Specter, and Spectral Wall will be in that order. Take Spectral Wall as soon as possible for the stun on hit.

For enemies that get in close, take Active Reload and Healing Rite. If the enemies are going to keep you away, like Vindicta or Grey Talon, then take Healing Rite and Active Reload.

Next, add McGinnis' Extra Stamina and then Sprint Boots to give him even more endurance. Extra Change is required for additional turret deployment, which is very important in early game success.

Cap your build off with Fleetfoot to maintain high mobility. Just remember to time your Active Reload so you don't end up with super long reloads.

Mid Game

Max Spectral Wall, then follow up with turrets and Medicinal Specter. Place emphasis on pumping points into Medicinal Specter for a self-buff in case of long firing.

Intensifying Magazine and Slowing Bullets will be good damage buffs. For a lead, take Titanic Magazine. In case too much dying occurs, take Bullet Lifesteal. Active follow-ups include Bullet Resist Shredder and Suppressor.

Late Game

Finish leveling Medicinal Specter before spending points into turrets. Take Lucky Shot and Crippling Headshot for damage, Superior Stamina for mobility.

Heroic Aura and Siphon Bullets for team buffs and healing. Inhibitor slows enemies further. Use vitality items depending on what the opponents are doing: Improved Bullet Armor versus bullet-heavy opponents, Improved Spirit Armor for a general damage increase, and Leech for preventing burst healing.

Alternate: Turret Build

For a turret-oriented build, early-game setup should be the same. Focus your mid-game and late-game turret upgrades using cards such as Improved Cooldown, Soul Shredder Bullets, Mystic Vulnerability, Mystic Slow, Rapid Recharge, Escalating Exposure, and Superior Duration. Change the skill build to max turrets first, then the wall. Include end-game cards such as Titanic Magazine and Spiritual Overflow for personal improvements.

Overall

Walking machine gun: max out damage stacks  and min downtown with Active Reload. Conserve using Spectral Wall for stuns and CCs.

You can go a direct damage or turret-focused build depending on your play style, the makeup of your team, the make-up of their team, and the map.

Extra Tips

  • Playstyle - Think about how you like to approach a fight. Very aggressive, very defensive, mix?
  • Team Composition: Assess your team's strengths and weaknesses. Is your damage, healing, or crowd control sufficient? Enemy
  • Composition: Assess the enemy team for threats and opportunities. Is there anybody particularly dangerous that you need to pay extra attention to?
  •  Map: Think about the layout of the map for potential advantages. Are there any choke points or places where your build does exceptionally well?

Remember this is a general, and for more specific situations, some changes in builds might be necessary, according to every person's taste. Just experiment with different builds and find the most effective strategy to apply in your game.
