Upon first exploring the manor in Blue Prince, you might notice a locked gate to the west of the entrance, seemingly leading out into the surrounding forest. This is the West Gate, and while the lock appears tantalizingly close, opening it requires a specific sequence of actions involving drafting and powering certain rooms. This guide will walk you through the steps to unlock the West Gate, access the unique Outdoor area (The Grounds), and detail the rewards that await you beyond.

Blue Prince West Gate Unlocks & Location:

If you exit the manor from the mainentrance room and immediately turn right, you will spot the small,locked West Gate. As its name suggests, it's located on the west side of the manor, directly across the front courtyard from the open gate that leads back to Simon's campsite on the outskirts of the estate.

Unlocking the West Gate grants you access to a unique area called The Grounds, which is also considered an Outdoor room. Once unlocked, the West Gate will remain permanently unlocked in all subsequent playthroughs of Blue Prince.

Venturing outside through the West Gate and into an Outdoor room costs 3 steps, and returning to the manor also costs 3 steps.

The Grounds allows you to draft special Outdoor-only rooms that offer unique bonuses not found elsewhere in the manor. These include:

• Shelter: Protects you from the effects of Red Rooms.
• Hovel: (Specific bonuses not detailed in the excerpt).
• Toolshed: Grants 4x free special items.
• Trader Outpost: (Likely allows trading or purchasing of items).
• Root Cellar: (Likely related to storage or specific resources).

How To Open The West Gate In Blue Prince:

Follow these steps to unlock the West Gate and gain access to The Grounds:

Step One: Draft the Garage In The West Wing & A Utility Room:

To reach the other side of the West Gate, you must draft two specific rooms:

• The Garage: This special room can only be drafted in the west wing of the manor, on the far left side of the 5x9 grid. Drafting the Garage requires you to spend one Gem.
• A Utility Room: This is a dead-end room that can be drafted anywhere within the manor.

These two rooms do not need to be connected to each other within your manor layout.

Step Two: Restore Power in the Utility Room and Activate the Garage Door:

In the Utility Room: Enter the Utility Room and look for a breaker box. Interact with the breaker to turn the power "on" for the Garage room.

Return to the Garage: Head back to the Garage room. You will notice that the Garage Door activator, usually located on the wall next to the entrance, has changed from red to green, indicating that it now has power.

Activate the Garage Door: Interact with the green button on the Garage Door activator. This will cause the Garage Door to open, providing a way to exit the manor into the outdoor area.

Step Three: Walk Outside, Then South To Cross A Bridge:

Collect the Keys: Upon entering the Garage for the first time, you will always find three Keys. Make sure to pick these up.

Head Outside: Exit the manor through the newly opened Garage Door.

Explore West (Briefly): Take a moment to explore the immediate outdoor area to the west of theGarage. You will likely see the locked West Gate from this side.

Head South: From the Garage exit, proceed south. You will encounter a break in a stone wall and a plank of wood laid across a stream, forming a temporary bridge. Cross this wooden plank.

Pathways: After crossing the plank, you will see two paths: one leading left (east) and one leading right (west). The path leading right (west) will take you to The Grounds, where you can begin drafting special Outdoor Rooms.

Step Four: Unlock West Gate Permanently:

Head Left (East): To find and unlock the West Gate permanently, take the path leading left (east) after crossing the wooden plank. This path will lead you to the opposite side of the West Gate from the manor's entrance.

Interact with the Lock: Approach the lock on the West Gate and interact with it. This action will lift the lock and permanently unlock the West Gate.

Permanent Access: From this point onwards, the path to the West Gate will always beunlocked, and you will be able to access The Grounds from the start ofevery future run. However, it's important to note that the wooden plank bridge across the stream will only appear if you exit the manor via the Garage Door. In future runs, you will need to find an alternative way to cross thisstream if you wish to access The Grounds directly from the west side ofthe manor.
